  3. Hey I stopped at an MVA last night on my way home... car had been hit and spun 180. guy hit windshield was wearing seatbelt. A0x3. - airbag c/o L hip pain, stiff neck, and his wrists were hurting... When i got there they had already called the police, thought the assignment was on the way... 30 mins later the police show up.. and then he has to request a BLS truck once onscene... (there was a huge ped struck w/ fly out that was going on at the same time so things where a bit hectic) upon my arrival... i turned off the car that had the damage, put the break on.... found out if everyone was okay.... got the information about the pts. ... and all the other good stuff we do... by the time the BLS truck had arrived.. I already had gotten an initial assesment done, found had NKDA, No Medications, No History, etc. and taken C-SPINE Now here is the question i have for everyone.... what would you have done if you were the responding BLS unit. Do you just ignore the person sitting there holding C-Spine, and talk only to the pt. or do you find out who they are and what they know? and also talk to the pt? just wondering what yall would have done... ***on a side note the a common theme for this Counties EMS agency (not mine next one over) is one of a paragod (whether they are medics or not) syndrome*** just wondering what yall would have done

  9. I am currently an EMT-B and am starting to learn the stuff for FF. I am going to be taking FF I in the fall... and I was just wondering who all was what?
  10. Hey just currious... how may people in here are cross trained as FFs also?
  11. GOD BLESS that show... does anyone know if they have or plan to have it put on DVD?
  12. I wana hear it too.. and just curiosity... what part of Maryland? you know u work for urban EMS when to go trolling for truama all you have to do is step out onto the ramp of the fire house
  13. But MCI's are so much fun... lol... jk.... and dude... the MOAB would do just as much damage as the tact. nuke... just no radiation
  14. Its Called EMERGENCY! hasn't been on in years... lol are you talkinga bout that kinda show?
  15. I may not have been a citizen of the CSA, but my ancesters where and that is what i mean by heritage. paying respect to my family members that came before me... My definition of heritage is not forgeting things that happened and the people who have come before me. Yes horrible things have happened in the past such as Slavery and the Holocost... but we can not just re-write history and forget about it as some people try and do. If the confederate flag was representative only of Slavery than I would take it down in half a heartbeat... but i fly it to pay respect and homage to my ancestors who fought and died in the Civil War. and it is about Southern Pride. Pride in its rich history. does that answer your questions.. i will gladly discuss this if yall want... I am not trying to piss people off or be a bigot or anything... I am just proud of my family's history and of the area that I live in.... hey Paramedic Mike.. just curious... where are you from? don't see it on your posts under your name
  16. Here is how i look at it.. I have a confederate flag... and I display it proudly. It hangs on one of my walls in my room (in the proper and correct way to hang flags) and i display it as a symbol of my southern herritage... I have ancestors from Virginia, Georgia, and other parts around the south (not sure of all of them), I completely understand flying the Confederate Flag for those reasons. And I know that the Confederacy is no longer a country or anything like that.. and so therefore I still have a United States Flag that i fly outside my house... and i am loyal to the USA but I still am proud of my herritage.. it is no different from someone from australia flying an Aussie flag, or a Brit flying the Union Jack.... etc.... HOWEVER... if it is being used to symbolizwe bigotry (sp?) and racisim and all the unfortunate events that took place during that time period... i would be prepared to rip it down and destroy it. but again... that is only when it is used in that mannor... if it is used to display a southern herritage than that is fine by me.. but not to display and pay homage to a racist way... only pay homage to my southern ancestors.. sorry for the long winded comments yall.. but this has been a heated discussion w/ me for years amongst some people that i know
  17. screw that... tactical nuke... or photon torpedos... trekies unite.. lol
  18. that is kinda what happens w/ me... I will set up the IV stuff... get the drugs out... stuff like that... and very basic EKG reading...
  19. some yes some no... depends most of the people on my shift yes....
  20. I can't think of any specific time that i have... I try and stay true to them.. they are there for a reason... but like what mcad said... there may have been times where for the benifit of the pt... protocols have been bended depending on what person i am riding with.. we have medics who because we have to get a line on the person... will try a third time if they can't get it in 2x. for whatever reason... but like i said... any time they may have... it has been for DAMN good reasons.. not just for sh*ts and giggles....
  21. Hey just wondering how people deal w/ short trnsport times.. less than 5 minutes. since the rural guys are talking about the long transport times.. anyone got things to say about the other extreme?
  22. Hey was having a discussion (spend a lot of boaring hours just talking at the station) about which people prefer or which their department has them you... Do you use the Diffibrilator(sp?) paddles or the pads that are in the basic AED. just currious... also which Monitor/AED do yall use
  23. Hey just wondering I was having a discussion w/ some friends about this.. does yalls department require Hazmat Training and if so to what level. for example my county requires HazMat Ops for the FFs and HazMat Awareness for the EMS only people
  24. Personally i think it is situational... as long as they play nice... go for it
