I couldn't imagine living somewhere where I could get run over by a car, and end up selling my house to pay for it. I wouldn't choose to do that. I'd rather pay the higher taxes.

This is exactly what I guarantee you'll find the majority of individuals living in countries with socialised healthcare will say.

As a side note. Even ambulance services are socialised in parts of Canada. In BC for example the total bill sent to any patient for ambulance services is $85. That's $85 whether you require BLS transport or a critical care rotary response. Interfacility transports are free to the patient.
