Here in aussieland we have just had our premier motorsport event.

The first video is to show you 1 lap, the record lap of just over 2 minutes so you get an idea of the circut.

This one is at the bottom of the straight, it is just at a right hand 290Km/h+ bend & not the ideal way to take the turn

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwPgPqTMeco

Testimony to the strength of race cars today.

Beats making left turn after left turn hey.

Great video Phil !

We worked the Bathhurst race back in 1976 while we were stationed in Australia. Incredible racetrack, wonderful people!

Real race cars turn left & right!!!!

Real race cars turn left & right!!!!

I'm sure that A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, and all of the Unsers would wholeheartedly concur with your assessment!

Phil, considering the association between the 1970s show "Emergency!", and it's 'Los Angeles County Fire Department's "Rescue 51", did you choose this car due to it being Car 51?

Awesome coverage of the car that rolled. Kudos to the roll cage designer, and the fact that the driver WALKED from the vehicle.

To be honest Richard, Emergency never came to mind, the lap was amazing & stood for 7 years, & was only beaten this year. Considering the advancments in engine managment, aerodynamics etc, even though this is a street circut that is used once per year, to have a record stand for that period is an amazing effort & testiment to the fantastic drive & cohesion of the team to maintain the car to then allow the drivers to maintain an average speed of approx 95 mph for 161 laps is a great effort.
