Interesting article. It does reflect what anyone that's been in EMS long enough already knows. It's just making it to the general public now.

In the past 6 months I have seen 5 people under 25 y/o die on the Er table due to pain pills. The reality of it is it takes nothing but a sad face to go and get pain pills these days. And to get what you want ( I cant take those they break me out, or, ive taken them and they dont touch the pain). Theres people out there shopping in 1-5 different private dr's offices. They get what they want and sell the rest on the street or 5 times the value. With a perscription drugs are legal, they dont leave any odor on your breath, and for many people give the the appearance they are tired, instead of ripped out of their mind. Until there is a nationwide push to do something about this, it will only get worse. I'd love to see a state by state statistic for prescription drug overdoses.
