Richard B the EMT
I would take the kids along, notifying dispatch I was doing so. I'd either request the LEOs meet us at hospital, or on arrival, tell the ED staff Social Services would be needed.
Scaramedic
Throw in a Teletubbies video, open some Pop Tarts and juice boxes for the kids and let them wait for PD. OK, Fine. Take 'em with us.
Richard B the EMT
Addendum to previous posting: Take age into consideration. The scenario said under 5 year olds. They go. Over 13, I might take the chance of leaving them, but need to refer to state protocol, see what they say.
CBEMT
Manpower permitting, send somebody to a neighbor's. Gotta be careful with that though, soooo many people have NO idea they're living next door to Urkin the town rapist (naughty naughty!).
NYAEMT-I
I would load the kids up and take them with me. Around here we have certain squad members who think it's okay to take their kids on emergency calls ( a practice that I don't agree with) . Take Care NYAEMT-I
