Gain your experience in the field first, order up some pharm,cardio,resp, books. Talk to people that took the course, get the medication list and make up Q-Cards. From a to z go over abandoned call to zygomatic. 12 leads by Tim Pharlon is great and jump on little course's ACLS to get you going. Wait a year or two to get the noggin going, Paramedic school is a challange even thought people think we are ambulance drivers. It will take some time,but if you are serious about it you will do it....................remember, people lives depend on you as a Paramedic. You gotta know it.

Took the course with FBI/Sheriffs dept in Grand Rapids Michigan great course but not used up here in NS.

Stopped at a mvc motorcycle saw the pt with two ladies, asked if they needed help, I am a Paramedic ACP they said "no they are RN's " Noticed the pt was on his stomach ,heard snorring respirations!!!!!!!!!!! With all the c spine logged rolled and his helmet was chacked in half beside him ................rn's nicely removed it before I arrived, he had massive head trauma. Had my wife get my medical kit out the back as we where heading back from Sudbury Ont and suctioned him Airway was contolled, did abc's proceeded to remove clothing noticed a Hells Angles tat and patch GREAT he had 2 femur fx, 2 radial/ulner fx and when I opened the shirt 1 Rn passed out there was 2 lungs and a heart doing a bradycardic beat........his ribs were sticking lt/rt. Covered the cx the ambulace arrived I had 2 14g IV's in and they where BLS. THE LOOK OF HORROR ON THERE FACES I had my ACP TAG with me and went with them,intubated and he coded in hospital. Yes it is nerdy to have a kit with you if you use it be prepared to go, have your tag with you, but the hospital was impressed with our scope of practice.....got a thankyou from the Hells Angles :shock: and the RN woke up after her friend pulled her out of the bullrushes.

Took a job over to htt://www.rn.com and saw rn's intake to medics in the er............interesting. There are still the dinosaurs out there that still ask if we have o2 on board, i say we open the windows and drive very fast. But the day I did a needle cric in the er in front of her was priceless I thought she wet herself. We posted our policies from ett-crics-chest tubes-cardioversion-meds ect and she doesn't get it. We fill in for hospitals that don't have doctors on,but I agree the ER is their territory the field ours,but work as a team and good luck.

We use morphine and chase it with gravol prn...............but there seems to be a increase of allergic pts out there lately and the fentanyl would be great, its fast with less side effects. Morphine is a .01cent for 10.0mg what is fentanyl cost?

We are 800mg/500 cc bags Start at 5 ug/kg/min fill your burrol device drip chamber with 20 cc and begin your gtt rate according to your charts. This is why we are still called AMBULANCE DRIVERS that turd should be turfed. We have the black box or the rat in the truck..........we have fobs which we use and it tells speed,lights,signal lights,breaking,seat belts etc. At the end of the month we get a report card on driving. O2 is the strongest drug in your kitbag, without it all others are worthless.

On the run report you always read it before you sign it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have a right not to sign it if you don't agree in the actions of care your partner provided, cause if you do you are liable with your partners actions and agreed with everything he/she did. If I didn't see the disrobing i would have stated pt was fully dressed in undergarmet when left with partner in back, did not witness removal of clothing of pt. With the morphine I have a RN witness and sign on my PCR of amount discarded.Again, CYA if your pt has a problem with it boo frigging who It is your tag/licence on the line and only proper documentation will save your ass in the end.
