This isn't about the cell phone but its pretty close. Recently the RCMP has installed lap tops into their vehicles. I notice a few times that they seemed alittle preoccupied when they were stopped around town. I decided to scare one one day by sneeking up and baning on the car. (I thought it was pretty funny but I was alone in that thought) I then pointed out that if they are busy on a computer then wouldn't it be a safety issue hence my prank. Well today I was talking to an officer and I was informed that in the cities they are driving, talking on the radio and also trying to get the files done on the computer while driving. Now if that isn't a safety issue.

We also have cell phones in our car with the only purpose it to keep in contact with dispatch and other emergency responders. The attending is the only one that is to use it while the other drives. I have a personal one that I carry but with call display I don't answer the call unless it is safe to do so and I never answer it while on a call. I guess commen scence is hard to find these days.

Okay Im not a big You tube person but sometimes I will take alittle tour. I typed in Spirits and Ghost and believe it or not eventually I go to video's of people committing suicide. I don't know if they are all real because to tell you the truth I didn't want to watch them (I watched 2) Now what I can't believe is that You Tube would accually let people post these things on the site and I was appaulled at the amount of times they were viewed. Here is one of the Videos. Anyone else have an opinion of this topic?

Kaisu Sounds like things are getting better. When you are dealing with new preceptors or what ever you call them dont try to conform to them as it will drive you crazy. You pass what ever testing you need to and you should have the abilty to think outside the box. If they give you grief then document it. You don't have to do anything with it but have it written in your little black book. I would hope that the ones you are working with would be able to sit with you and discuss everything from start to finish.

You will develop confidence as you become more experienced with all of the calls you will come across. I have been doing this for 13 years and I still learn something new everyday.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this because I didn't read each post.... Remember when someone is training a new person (And they aren't a dick head) how you perform is a reflection of them. You maybe a trainer someday and you want to be proud of the people that have learned from you.

I love this piece of equipment and use it when ever possible. I place the straps under the legs and up through and hook them up on the same side. I don't criss cross because the boy pts don't like getting things caught up.

I just had this call. I am lucky in my point of view as I know almost everyone in my community and have a good repore with my community. When you get this call in the city well that is just a new set of worms.

It is always Mechanism of Injury that dictates what I do. If he is just a nasty person who is intoxicated who was disturbed having a nap by someone who cant tell the difference from a drunk person to some one who is really unconciouse, if they don't want my help then off to jail and don't collect your two hundred dollars. I had this guy and I for the first time in my career said to the cops I will not transport this guy so do what you want to do. It was sad really. I am told that they take them to cells because they cant take care of themselves.

If the pt was a MVA involving drinking and driving then I will ask for police assistance in getting the pt. on a spine board and the spider straps will keep the pt restrained I also will use soft restrains on the board. The cop will be in the back of the car with me.

I have learned in the past few years to use the other emergency resources that are available.
