  1. There's a huge difference between staring at the face of a smoking gun, and "intel gathering" (IE spying). It's up to the individual EMT whether or not what he/she is looking at needs to be reported when it comes to broad terms such as "terrorism". But to make it a law? Things will go to hell in a handbasket quick.
  2. You act like skippy needs to be convinced in the first place. I know I stopped reading it. Whenever I get a new issue, I just look at the pretty pictures (ya gotta admit, they do look cool) and read steve berrys cartoon.
  3. Lots of blonds on this thread
  4. I'd rather look at it as "I made just under 36 grand this year" over "I made 5 grand this year".
  5. As a fresh basic, I get $8.50 an hour. And I work three 24 hour shifts a week. No vacation time for the first year. But we do get time and a half overtime for work weeks over 40 hours. So... $8.50 X 40 hours + $12.75 X 32 overtime hours = $748 a week $748 X 4 = $2,992 a month $2,992 X 12 = $35,904 A ton of work, but not a bad paycheck.
  6. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I LOVE dispatch
  7. I've seen "Saved" but not code red. Still, I'm willing to say your wrong
  8. Well, finally got hired on (half-hired) with a local company. I'll be practicing my trade out on the mean streets very soon! 8) And working with the other services, PD and Fire. But my experience with working with fire in school was very limited, and virtually non-existent before (PD, TON'S of experience. Don't ask). Can someone give me a run down on how to cooperate with fire? Like who to address, ranks, stuff like that? Last thing I want to do is step on some toes and get off on bad foot right from the start.
  9. Sorry it took me so long to reply, was on a much needed vacation Had a talk with my brother about this when he came home for the holidays. What he described sounds exactly like the CLS program, but they test for the EMT-B registry after this one month course. Maybe the marines have got a new program?
  10. My little brother is a L CPL. in the USMC. 1st of the 7th. He already did a tour in Iraq and is waiting to go back for a second tour sometime middle of next year (hopefully not though). But before he goes, he told me on the phone the other day, he's gonna take something like a "combat life saver" course. It's about a month long, and at the end he'll a NREMT-B. We didn't get a chance to talk for long, so I wasn't able to get much more info then that. Anybody know what it is he's talking about? I just don't see cramming an EMT-B course in a month. Even for the Marines.
  11. Time to start pestering them for season 4! Too bad I can't recode my Xbox :?
  12. tvshowsondvd.com announced season 3 of EMERGENCY! will be released in February. source Surprised it took this long to get posted.
  13. *GASP* Did he actually identify the medics as HEROS!?!?!?? :lol:/ That was a freaking awesome clip! LMAO!!
  14. Dear admins, and various demi-mods. Can we have immediate banishment be the appropriate punishment for posting those "screamer" computer pranks, as my Christmas present?
  15. Thanks, school's been keeping me pretty busy. Who knew you had to memorize so much stuff in emergency medicine? Don't underestimate a good pair of shoes. I've been pimping these bad boys. Comfortable, stylish, and useful in EMS. Side note: I've taken a lot of pride in my appearance when I'm out on calls. Every single patient I had during my clinical's thought I was the boss of the crew that just rolled up. Should've seen their face when I identified myself as a EMT student.
  16. Computer, crash over there please.
  17. Also, try and make them look like dress shoes as much as possible. Hiking boots just don't look very professional.
  18. I'd settle for a better neck collar or a better KED board. But hey, robot airplanes sound just as good!
  19. In this county we use University of Michigan's "Survival Flight". UofM has 3 Bell 430's for this. They told me they have a flat take off rate of 5 grand. And most flights run around 7-8 grand on average. shameless video plug
