Things happen for a reason in life......God has never let me down.....During times of trouble wheter i'm in the back of the bus or at home he has been there for me and has given me the strenght to move forward..

My spelling is not the best and the only reason for that, is that i'm usually writing the pcr's soo fast....When i'm not being rushed i usually do ok with spelling a word correctly...

Hello all.......Has anyone ever heard of a DNI (do not intubate)..My day job is working in a Nursing Home and for the first time today i heard a Social Worker tell a family member about a DNI...This PT doesnt want a DNR and doesnt want to be on any life support...Soo they are asking that if he goes into cardiac arrest to perform CPR but tell the ambulance drivers not to intubate...I dont get it...What do we do at this point..I think the family is filling out a living well....Do we abide by this living well....Any info would be helpful

The bottom line is....If you are deaf then you dont belong riding in the back of a ambulance..If you really want to help people there are many other jobs out there that you can be doing that would be consider helping people and not actually putting someones life at risk..I dont want to sound cruel but this is life..We are there to help people not make ourselves feel good...

I have to say i think being able to listen to lung sounds and getting a BP is very important..Most drugs before u can administer to a pt requires that you have a BP..Soo i really think if someone is deaf or HOH then they need to find some other type of work that isnt really dealing with people that need medical attention..

Also when you have a deaf tech how can they hear what the PT is complaining of...Also what about when Med Com is trying to give the deaf tech a med order..Its not going to happen and then the PT'S life is at a greater risk...I really dont think they should be on the bus..

I agree with you totally...We had such problems with him..I also remember having him in my EMT class and he never did well..He didnt pass the last class final to be able to move on to take the state test.. He complained and made a big stink and they passed him along saying it was the fault of the instructor to have not have noticed that he wasnt doing well on his test. I don't know how he passed the state test. I saw him at the corp a few months after he passed the state test and a call came in for a sick male.. I asked him to do something and he didnt do it..i was starting to get upset as to why he was ignoring me and then i remembered he was deaf. Other members of the corp had problems with him for one he gave a nebulizer treatment without taking a BP first along with a nitro. Anyway to make a long story short the chief had to ask him to leave the corp..He resigned and that was it.

I would just like to know everyone opinion...I had someone in my ambulance corp who was deaf and wasnt able to take a BP or listen to breath sounds..

More info needed...Was their shift time over with? Was the other crew ready to respond? Too many unanswered questions.. :?

I personally dont like using the automatic BP cuff. I think u should first try to get it on your own and if you can't for whatever reason then use the automatic BP cuff...They are not always accurate..

All i can say is WHAT THE HELL...I have never seen a ekg that looked like that...Did the man have Parkinsons?

I know what you are going through..My honey tells me that i was doing a great thing by becoming a emt b and supported me all the way..I even went on to take the emt cc class which is 10 months long and he continued to support me through that..Now when it comes to me responding to calls i get all these little neg comments..it makes me nuts..He makes me feel like i dont spend enough time with him..I have a percentage i have to make each month with the ambulance corp..Its a struggle to make percentage because of him giving me a hard time..Time does not change anything..I hate being made to feel guilty for doing something i enjoy..Good luck..Let us know what happens.
