  1. You wants me to rub dis guy out fors ya?

Thanks but no thanks hun. :: hugs:: I plan to keep on trying. I applied for 2 more jobs today and I plan on continuing to bug them until I get somewhere!

  2. Currently trying not to cry... I went in feeling great. Interview went awesome. Spoke with both HR and the manager for the radiology department. The Manager even said she had seen my file and asked for it to be pulled and have me called in. Remembered my name and whole nine yards. They even gave me the orientation packet and uniform requirements.

I get home make calls to family and my phone goes off. It's HR. So I'm thinking, "WOOT!". Ya... someone from another hospital just called and wanted to transfer locations... He has the job. :: sighs and cries:: They asked if I wanted my file to be kept for a future opening I told them yes. The woman from HR said I was well liked and would have gotten it but the other guy has the experiance which gave him the edge... oh well.

Off to curl up with some ice cream and hubby.

  3. :: Puts on teacher hat:: Stranger danger and Safe Stranger are too great ones. It's great if they know not to talk to to a stranger but they need to do who they can talk to. Police, fire, ambo people etc. How to dail 911 and what info they will be asked. What is a fire danger? How to get out in a fire. These are all things all those ages can handle.

Do mini senarios. Have a child be "hurt" and take care of them so they can see what to expect. Now don't go doing a trauma alert on the younger ones that might be alittle much pending how you do it. I'm a huge one for explaining what a vital sign is and what it tells me. Think meat and potatos hold the salt and butter. Take away the fear of, "Why are you doing this and what is that". You might be shocked at how much they can understand. ( No joke I have a 3 year old that knows if he's coughing alot and he can't breath to ask for his dino mask.... which is his nebulizer. ) With the older kids see if anyone has any conditions you can use. Even if you dont' use them directly. If Billy Bob is allergic to oh bees ( a common thing in Florida) then make a character that is and what you would do to help him if you got called to him after being stung.

Water safety water safety water safety. This seriously can not be mentioned enough. It's summer time these guys are going to pool parties. Going over how to be safe in the water and what do to if someone is drowning would be very good ideas.

Ask parents to take part. Make it an assignment to come up with a fire plan and emergency numbers.

I"m sure if I sat down and really thought about it I could come up with more if not give you a flipping lesson plan. Ok that's my current 2 cents. Off to cook dinner.

  4. Thats great Gypsy. I know how bad it was to get that interview. Glad its all working out and will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you that it all works out.

Dont forget to light the green candle :devilish:

It is even better that it works with the nursing course schedule. Thats a big bonus.

a little Viking Kittens to help with the happy dance :punk:

OH I forgot the green candle! I have my God/dess and universe ones lit I forgot green. wow it's been too long.

Herbie: OH ya I plan on being open for anything. This job is for transporter so running people around the radialogy wing I think... Not even sure right now. I don't honestly care where it's at. No matter where I get to go I'll be learning.

  5. Ok so now that I am ALOT calmer and can type without bouncing in my seat. One of the jobs I had applied for months ago was for transporter. Now for those that haven't talked to me in the chat room this hospital is the hospital in Tampa. It runs almost all the medical buildings in the bay area. So ya it's made it very hard for me to get a job. I had kindof lost hope. From what I've been told they get about 800 applications per job. Most don't get looked at and they get to be as picky as they want. If you don't have everything they are looking for then don't hold your breath.

The fact they actually called me yesterday just about sent me into shock. It's not the greatest shift in the world which might be why I'm one of the lucky ones to get a call back . It's 3 days a week including 16hour shifts on Saturday and Sundays. (Monster Java Irish Creams might become my best friend again.) It will also work beautifully with my school schedule for the prerecs I enrolled in for nursing.

So OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. :: dances around the room:::punk::jump::thumbsup:

  6. So far I haven't found anything I can't take. I've also not gotten alot of experiences though.

For the people that have a problem with the smells that never seem to leave your nose here's a tip: coffee beans. Either whole or ground up. Just take a deep inhale of the smell of those and it will clear out our nose. This is actually a trick from perfume companies. My mom and I have very sensitive noses and my step dad who used to work at perfume world showed us that trick. It's prevented many migraines in my house. Just food for thought. :D

  7. Ding ding ding!!

I love the ones the obey the 3ft rule... they ride 3 ft from a curb, and expect traffic to stay 3ft away from them, AND avoid getting in a head on collision.

Whatever happened to natural selection? innocent.gif

Well the ones that are obeying the law shouldn't be able to get into a head on since we ride with traffic not against. As for 3 feet from the curb that's a safety reason. Between car bits, glass, and dirt being close to the curb is suicide. I tend to ride 2 feet from the curb to give myself enough safe space out of the dirt but not into the traffic. Blow outs aren't fun even if you are only going 20mph on a bike. It isn't fun.

  8. I hate bicyclists on the road, especially when they have no consideration for vehicles especially the ambulance.

Well like it or not we're required to be on the road and can be fined a rather good amount if we're not. I"ve had to flirt myself out of a few tickets. One was $110 and the other would have been $80. We do have to follow the rules of the road just like any other vehical. Some do. Some don't. Just like any other person on the road though.

  9. I may know what you're talking about by a different name, but...what do you mean by a 3 foot state?

Florida and a handful of other states are required to give bicyclists 3 feet clearance on all sides. Mind you that rarely happens. I personally feel ( as does my mother) that we should be allowed to have a paintball gun and shoot at any car that comes to close. Though that would get expensive since paintballs aren't cheap. My shoulder blade has felt many side mirrors.

  10. Eeps you'll be in bicycle radius from me (Which is 5 miles from my front door). Remember Florida is a 3foot state and don't be like some drivers and try to push me off the road. :: chuckles:: ( Being that one of the local trucks tried to do that again recently. After I took time to drop off that thank you book from my kids too. :: pouts:: )

  11. I sadly didn't get to know him as closely as alot of you. The times he and I would talk in the chatroom it was always both a fun time and a learning time for me. His family is in my thoughts and prayers as is his spirit.

RIP Ret. Where ever you went.

  12. Well my bosses said I could give the two local stations "Thank You Books" made by the kids. :D Went to give the first one tonight. Thought I had some awesome timing. The ambo was pulling in as I rode up. So I thought, "awesome. I'll get to tell them in person and make sure they get the book." No sooner did I finish that thought did they get a call and drive off.. I don't think they even got out of the truck inside the bay area. The driver did see me and saw me put something by the door so hopefullly they will check out what was left. :: crosses fingers::

  13. Sadly not working in the field means I don't get any of the fun stuff. Though I am planning on stopping by a couple of near by stations and just saying thanks. If I was still asigned a room I would have my kids make a "Thank You" book for them too. :D

  14. Show them some of your equipment. Explain what things are and what they do. Don't get into details. Think meat and potatos hold the salt and butter type of thing. Should they ever see you on a call everything is scary as hell. What things do you know they will see no matter what? BP cuff, pen light, etc right? So bring that in. Heck let them take your vitals! Ok this sounds stupid I know. But if you show them the "scary monster tools" ( to quote Brett Jr a year ago) now while they know they are safe they will be less scared later.

When I did my pen pal project my kids loved it. They got to see the tools, learn what they were for, and a few even still remember. We did a few extreme basic drills. One parent has asthma, one smokes, and one of my kids is accident prone. So guess what we did? How to help mom find her rescue inhaler and call 911, how to get out of a house durning a fire and call 911, and how to take care of boo boos. Take in a run report and show them what you are looking for.

Always remember to keep your voice lively. Remember your rule of 3: males raise your voice 3 octives ( yes you want to sound like a hyper cheerleader). Jump, skip, run to places. The more cartoonish you act the more they will pick up at the younger ages.

Ok I'll take my preschool teacher hat off now. :D

  15. Hello everyone. I have a few people from here in my address book so I wanted to warn everyone. If you get an email from Sekhet3 that is lacking a subject line please DO NOT open it. I am very sorry if it went out to you. I got an email this morning from one of my husband's accounts containing a link. Since it was from him I thought nothing of it and opened it. He sends me links to webcomics all the time. I was more than alittle unhappy when I saw the link was for drugs. So please again: email+ no subject= instant deletion and again I'm very sorry. ::sighs::
