  1. Don't forget the scuba bonus pack and the submarine for escapes when the surface of the water was too hot to get to a cruiser.
  2. But finding a EMS Station where he's at might just be an impossibility. But I do know a couple of Medics who work in a fire based system that actually are good medics and don't want anything to do with the fire side. I for one want one of them to take care of me rather than the alternative that is out there in their system. A caring medic can save your life, a caring firefighter can show you how to use a fire extinguisher. But in all seriousness, I really do respect the fire guys that i've worked with in the past. I don't want em working on me as a patient but if I'm on fire, bring em on. yes making him go to the firehouse might just make him regret his decision to join ems but since he didn't give his location I made an assumption that he was from some area where fire ran EMS. SO Original poster -- where you from?
  3. I knew Doc had a nice soul. Now you need to go to the local firehouse and ask the same questions that were answered by ERDoc. The answers you get will be different but remarkably the same.
  4. My MCI bag contains a Harrier jet that is conveniently folded up into a 4x4 package that all I have to do is rip open the package and I have a fully armed and operational Harrier Jet that I am able to jump into and quickly exit the scene and then I can swoop back around to the scene and launch my heat seaking missiles to neutralize any threat that I had come under. I've only had to open it once.
  5. Mari B, don't bother arguing with Miscusi, with the blinders he has on in regards to cheating I would not trust his judgement as far as I could throw it. the only one with the need for a retina scanner would be him. Maybe this will actually come true - "you need to find the retina scanner... Im not coming back until you do..." per Miscusi maybe his not coming back is too much to wish for. But please don't find the retina scanner maybe that will keep him from coming back.
  6. Why not go to one of the local fire houses or EMS stations and ask them if you can ask those questions. I'm all for helping out the new guy but there are two benefits of asking someone local to you these questions. 1. It can start helping you talk to patients/people and asking them questions. What I mean is that you are going to have to ask a lot of questions to patients and some people are uncomfortable with that so why not begin with someone in a non-stressful environment. 2. It's called networking where you get to know the local EMS crews and who knows, maybe that person you interview will be able to help you down the road in your job quest. This might be the thing that will help you get the job, they might just remember you as the plucky wannabe emt who came and gasp asked them about their job. You might just meet your best ally and you may just make a friend. Another reason is that you should really be doing this type of assignment face to face rather than via email or posting. This actually makes me consider you as a lazy person who doesn't want to go the extra mile and seek out a emt in your area for a face to face but then again, I could be wrong. It seems to me that there have been several students come here asking for our help on assignments that they should be doing on their own. I hope I have mis-read you. Find a fire house, ask if you can interview them for your project, I guarantee that someone at the station will help you out. Or I'm sure some nice soul here will do the work for you.
  7. He's seen worse I'm sure. I think we will be going to see it thise weekend.
  8. Ok, would a 10 year old boy be able to enjoy this movie? I cannot find any real reviews for that level. I am planning on seeing it this weekend in 3d
  9. I'll send a couple of emails out to friends at local services to see if they have any insight as to the process/procedure as to when to change out units. You sound like you are working bureaucratic hell.
  10. I don't think there are any protocols out there that will be helpful for you. I think more of policy and procedure manual pages would be a better idea. That way they could see what some services have via policies when to purchase, when to sell and various other daily procedures. And a lot of the time you need to hand hold these types of people or they will go off in a ditch and order you a yugo rather than an ambluance that you need. Leave it to bureaucrats without a road map in front of them they might end up in Tim Buk Tu rather than your station location where you really want them. Good luck, sounds like you have your hands full.
  11. Yeah, I'm sure that the price of SAM splints are a little higher if you are buying one for personal use than for service use. So Miscusi, what is in your personal kit that you have for emergencies. Tyler on these boards is a big shot at the American Red Cross and I'm sure he could help you out on what you do and don't need. But you've probably blocked me like you said in your pm so I don't expect this to be seen.
  12. The correct answer is to call the state bureau of EMS.
  13. I should have watched the behind the scenes
  14. I also notice that you don't respond so jovially to the Bob members as you do to the Baberina's especially the ones with pictures!!!!!
  15. So which one in the video is you? That was really good. It needs to go viral.
  16. Sounds like you have it in service when you are saying grabbing the frame is the most reliable. If it's not in service then by all means that's the best thing but you sure made it sound like i was in service. Yeah, I worked for a service like that. They said if there was a way to make it work with a patient then use it till we get a replacement.
  17. Ok good on you for the correction. Feel better now? So what alloy do you think they are using?
  18. But if it's an alluminum alloy, how is it radiopaque? That's the question here. Just what alloy is the off brand that we were shown that made it non-radiopaque?
  19. Yeah, nothing gets by the great citizens of New York City. If they are even slightly offended there is a trip to the attorney's office to see if they can file a lawsuit. There is a reason why in the yellow pages the number of pages for attorneys is three times the number of pages for doctors. You know people get so offended at such little things these days. They just get butthurt over such little things. comments, looks, glares and mis-steps, just jump from "oh, you did that and I'm not happy" to "I'm so offended that I'm going to sue your ass in court or I'm going to post it on facebook how bad you have offended me" and then there's the jumping to the other end to road rage or nasty letters left in mailboxes or just going and getting your gun and ending the offense right then and there. just take a chill pill, step back and take a deep breath and sit down and drink a beer.
  20. I don't know. You know I tried to respond to your PM but you blocked me. nice way to get the last word in. But to answer your question, I think it has to do with the material in between the foam that is a thicker metallic substance than anything. I think that if you were to take one of them and dissect it you would find that it's truly metal and not a hybrid substance. It makes me wonder what material the real SAM's use.
  21. If you use a piece of equipment that is broken and a patient is injured then can't you be held liable for that patients injury. If you knew it was broken and you didn't remove it from service that's tantamount to causing that patients injury. If a piece of equipment is broken on my truck, I will pull that piece of equipment and get a replacement. If theres not one to be had then I'll take the ambulance out of service. Murphy's Law which really does apply to EMS will come visit you when you least expect it and his next visit will be when you need that piece of broken equipment. And if it's a stair chair, the next call you have once you realize the stair chair is broken is the tenement housing building that has 9 flights of stairs with no elevators and it's just you and your partner and NO OTHER HELP, and when you get down the 2nd flight of stairs the chair will finally give up the ghost leaving you with a broken chair and then what?
