  1. Thanks for assuming I forgot something there squint. I wouldn't have imagined in my wildest dreams an experienced emt OR paramedic would be of value anywhere ...
  2. Sounds interesting, good luck on organizing that study Until then I'll continue to listen to the opinions of hundreds with years of experience between then. Considering that (and my own views), that's scientific enough for me. On another note, would you find it interesting to know what the original poster of this topic thought? Why bother asking a question if you're not going to follow up? Yeesh ...
  3. Quantity not quality! Yup an EMT can make just as much here if they want, I can vouch for that personally and DON'T work oilfield. Only thing is even after a 2 year ON program, they can still only challenge the EMT exam here. But since you're in ON, do what you need to get by.
  4. I would suggest taking the training in Alberta. It will take longer from start to finish as there are three levels to successfully complete, however the training you'll have as an EMT-P here is second to none in Canada. That two year training over here might make you eligible to challenge the EMT exam. As for working in CA and especially around the San Diego area ... beautiful weather and beautiful land; my dad lives in Valley Center, just north of San Diego. Crappy pay though ... If you would like to message me your contact info I could pass it along to an EMT-P working here that came from CA, worked as a paramedic (ACP as some like to call it) for a number of years ... let me know.
  5. Oh yes, uber grumpy ... and weren't you telling me last week Phil, that you still hide outside of booze stores waiting to ask people to buy your bottle for you because you're not yet legal?
  6. ... were they rigored too? New ACLS standards are to be focusing on compressions and electricity. Stopping compressions to insert an airway is not keeping the brain perfused which is what they're looking for.
  7. Sounds like the voting is over and I didn't see it until now ... I would however have voted for emtannie, because she put up with my grumpiness at school for two weeks
  8. Perhaps a little off from what the original post was asking for, however I have purchased 4 pairs of prescription glasses (3 sun, 1 reg) and spent just a little over $100 CDN total (for all 4). I'm happy with what I bought. I don't think they have safety glasses unfortunately, but if anyone is looking for prescription glasses these guys are pretty good and the price is amazing. http://www.zennioptical.com/cart/home.php As for prescription safety glasses, I imagine you'll be paying a bit of a price for them no matter where you go unfortunately.
  9. My fellow skydivers will get a laugh out of this ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHtPDjGE8RU&NR=1
  10. This was the first (and last) episode of this show that I'm going to watch. First of all, I don't understand why they run when going somewhere (except to the bathroom, because I've been there!). Secondly, that flight medic's uniform ... Why is it so tight on her and why is she showing off her chest? There's one in every bunch I suppose ... People like that are usually the office pin cushion. Anyhow, I found it pretty cheesy ...
  11. And, part two ... I only liked this parody because I truly hate those stupid commercials ...
  12. No doubt hey? Bigger/more usually costs more ... more octane in fuel = more $$ ... more property = more taxes ... more insurance on your car = more $$ ... more french fries and an extra patty on a monster burger = more $$ Regardless, if someone takes up more than one seat, they should pay for more than one seat and of course have that seat beside them to use. I don't think anyone here was saying fat people should pay more for a plane ticket simply because they're fat. One seat per person, if you use more you pay more. If they're such nice people then why are you posting potentially embarassing pictures of them? For your amusement? Or are you supposed to be teaching us something here? And no, sitting next to a black/asian/jewish/whatever person is not offensive, that was you being a tad ridiculous. Being sat ON by someone who is too big to fit in their own seat IS offensive.
  13. It appears as though some people feel we should be punished for the unhealthy eating habits of others. I guess they won't mind trading seats with me on an aircraft, when someone is sitting halfway onto my chair due to their sheer size.
  14. That's a ridiculously huge person ... not sure if it was just Canada or the USA also, but within the last year it was made 'illegal' to charge a severely overweight person for two seats, should they exceed the posted size (or however that works). It was supposedly discriminatory and unfair. Sure it's sad and I'd hate to be that person, but do I need to be punished for someone's unhealthy habits? So tell me ... is it unfair that I lose partial circulation in a hip because the juggernaut beside me is too big for one seat? If you can fit in one seat, great. If not, one should be paying for two or find another method of transportation more suited for one's size. Fair amd comfortable for everyone.
  15. It wasn't the title ... it was the fact that you actually came across as being a dickhead in your subsequent replies.
  16. Hah! I was drinking something else when I watched it ...
  17. I watched it several times in a row when I first found it ...
