Tactical Medic Proposal

Recommended Posts

Can any of you help me. I am a full time police officer and a flight medic in the national guard. I am in the process of getting my EMT-B current again. It lapsed mostly due to my lack of contacts in the EMT world and my national guard unit who has a certified instructor who told me to find my own class instead of taking time out of his ever to busy schedule to help me out. But anyway enough about that, after I get current again I am looking at trying to get my Paramedic. I am going to try to get my department to pay for the schooling because lets face it police officer make jack squat. Do any of you know any grants that I could apply for or know how to write a great proposal that the Chief and Mayor could never turn down? Please help me.

Use your G.I. Bill.......................................

Or obtain financial aid. There are many programs out there, many with low interest rates. Talk to your local college about these programs..........................

I'm well qualified to ask you this: What do you want to be? Paramedic or peace officer?

If you are trying to justify Paramedic school to operate on a SWAT team, Id say you are going to fail. There are very few times a Paramedic will be any more useful than a first responder in a tactical enviroment.

If you believe that some how being a Paramedic in a Police Department is going to add money to your wallet....I'd ask you to revisit your thinking.

There is help out there. What is your MOS and what type of unit are you in?

I too am confused, do you want to be a medic because you think the police will pay ouy more, or are you looking to change over to medic full time, or is your comment about being paid "jack squat" more about you can't afford the medic training out of your own pocket,

Enquiring minds want to know.
