Anybody work concert venues?

I was wondering if anyone else out there works any concert venues? A buddy of mine owns a company here in central Ohio called Event Services. We do alot of concerts. We usually do the weekend long concerts like the Ekoostic Hookah shows or Insane Clown Posse shows. These shows last 2 to 3 days (ICP lasted 5 days). It's not a bad part time gig, but can be a bit hectic depending on what drugs are being done in the crowd and if the patients decide to become violent (thats always fun.....Not!).

My hubby used to when he worked for Alert EMS in Cleveland. He saw KC and the Sunshine Band, Smashmouth and a bunch of other bands. I have never done concerts but I have done track safety work with IHRA in Norwalk. Very interesting and I got to meet alot of drivers. I got to rinse Clay Milikin's eyes out when he got the track crud in them. Nice guy!

I've done motor races and concerts.

We always cover our local motocross, supercross, aernacross, enduro, speedway, drags you get the picture lol.

I've also done concerts. We have an event that goes for 3 days, 1 hour from any form of civilisation in the middle of the bush, 10,000 drugos and it's normally really hot. There’s 60 first aiders for the 3 days and all we pretty much do is drug related stuff. Last year we treated just over 400 patients with 25 timed critical. The police can't touch them as it's on private property so they go nuts! People get that stoned they do stupid stuff like ride a motorbike into a tent full of people.

I've also done the Big Day Out which has a crowd of about 70,000. It’s in summer so it’s hot! We normally have 200 first aid staff for that day.

At both events our organisation has a trauma centre set up with doctors and nurses with full hospital equipment. First aid staff are mainly the first response.

I've done backup for the Meadowlands here in NJ...They like to contract out to volunteer agencies to cover events (concerts, football games, hockey, basketball, etc) that their EMS services cannot man.

The biggest event lately was the Bamboozle concert...One of the facility doctors said after the first night "We got bamboozled!!" They were highly unprepared for the amount of people that showed up. The second day they had to call in for 3 more agencies I think. I didn't go... I do know that on the first day, there was a CPR. My captain from my corps was one of the people working that pt.

I work for MedicWest Ambulance in Las Vegas...in addition to running 911 calls we have a department that covers events throughout the city and some of the surrounding areas. We cover a number of different types of events at various venues:

Mandalay Bay (concerts, boxing, Ultimate Fighting Championship fights, conventions)

Hard Rock Casino (concerts, parties)

Orleans Arena (minor league hockey games, concerts, assorted events sports and non sports related)

We also cover racing (car, street bike, motocross) at local tracks including the Las Vegas Motor Speedway; PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and NFR (National Finals Rodeo) and other equestrian events; the Las Vegas Marathon...this is just a small list.

We have a pretty interesting variety of events throughout the year...the types of calls we get at the events is just as varied.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. The events we work are in the summer also. Its hot and everyone is drugged out. There are only 6 of us working most of these events, and usually 4000 to 8000 people attending. They camp out at these "festivals" so the fun never stops.

Picture this. I worked a grave yard shift at a Rave Party. 3am we get a call for assistance. There’s only myself and another member who is a retired nurse (really lovely old duck) on duty. So here we are at 3am with our little torch, response gear and drug bag safely tucked under my arm walking though the bush holding hands and trembling in fear! After 10 minutes of walking around we finally found our patient. The Scene: Tent and a car next to the river with a camp fire, Patient (young hippy lady) laying on ground, under the car and boy friend (clean cut young looking bloke) crying next to her. This event is a 3 day Hippy/Drugo tribadalic concert.

Patients is tripping out on a narcotic drug, she is C/O of abdo pain. On further assessment her water had broken and she was about to have a baby. Cut a long story short, the pt didn’t know what she’d taken, how she got under the car or were she was, she just blamed it on the pink bunny rabbit lol! Medics just got there in time for the baby but had a lot of trouble as she was that stoned she couldn’t push!

The boyfriend told me that they weren’t going to be back next year! I agreed! The bloke wasnt hippy, he was made to go and was very freaked out.

The fun we have lol!

God I love the Hippies. It's good to know that their the same down under as they are up here.....STUPID! As I always say though, if it werent for stupid peopleI'd be out of a job.

But seriously, we have had many interesting runs on the hippies. They love their mushrooms! The young hippies arent as smart as the older hippies. They don't know how to moderate their drugs. 6 ounces of majic mushrooms is not good! The kids at the Insane Clown Posse concerts are better. They moderate everything. They seem to mostly drink alot of alcohol. We kept extreemly buisy with them, but it was mostly injuries or the occasional hypoglycemia. The hippies up here are anti everything. They dislike the government, law enforcement, and even EMS if we mess withh their buzz.

Yeh mushrooms are pretty bad. But ICE is getting really big here! Pretty much if you OD on that your in REALLY BIG TROUBLE! There’s not really a good survival rate for it or making a full recovery. But it’s cheap as chips and gets you high as a kite extremely fast.

Yeah I've been threatened a couple of times. But I've had more offers to go back to there tent lol!
