the article was in JEMS magazine approx 3-4 years ago.

even with the large cot we still get a few people hurt every year, having to lift them from bed to cot, or floor to cot, or the cot doesn't fit into the house.

and the metro FD here won't respond unless they deem it a true medical emergency. I have had them refuse to help with difficulty breathing, but they will call us for the cot and our manpower for emergent and non emergent patients.

We have a "big boy" ambulance, and a "big boy" cot, and it takes forever for this truck to get here (since it is never where you need it. Some days I wish I got paid by the ton.
