Atlantic City EMS

Does AMR currently provide EMS in Atlantic City, NJ? Does anyone have any experience with this system? I'm a current Boston area AMR EMT, and am looking at my options of places to transfer to (within the company). I looked on AMR's corporate website, which said that there are 53 openings for EMT's in Philadelphia. However, the line "(Atlantic City and Salem, NJ)" was right next to "Philadelphia" in the listing. If Philly is about 60 minutes away, than how could ambulances from Philly be providing 911 services to Atlantic City? The listing also stated "High performance 911 system." Any info would be appreciated.

Here's the link if anyone wants to examine it for themselves:

From what I have seen on the Internet, no.

Supposedly, BLS is provided by Exceptional Medical Transport out of Berlin NJ. Sorry, I can't find a web site.

ALS is provided by MONOC (www.monoc.org), as by law it must be hospital based.

E -

Strippel is right. If I had to guess, AMR is doing 911 for Salem NJ, and listing their field offices in AC and Phil with it.

As a provider in the area, allow me to say...avoid AMR around here, no money, respect, or work is coming their way, and the air is getting thin...they are doing periodic special events, and are limited to that.

I know nothing of AMR elsewhere...

I actually work for Exceptional Medical Transport. We have a BLS and SCT transport system out of West Berlin, NJ, and the 911 system in Atlantic City is also operated by our company. In order to work on the AC shift, you have to work in Berlin for a while until there is an opening. ALS is actually provided by AtlantiCare (Based out of Atlantic CIty Medical Center). Philadelphia EMS is provided by Philly FD, which provides both BLS and ALS services. They're always looking for people. Any other questions, just ask.

Hey dude I see you posted that a while ago but I've been working in AC for the last year. I got the job directly out of EMT school. It is fairly busy: 8 call avg. for a 12 hr shift. Total urban setting, meaning "911" is nonsense half the time, but in this area we are the busiest by far and you see serious Pt's often. It's pretty easy to get a job and there is a high turnover rate. Exceptional Medical Transportation is subcontracted by the city, and they are based out of West Berlin NJ Where they operate their transport side. If you want to know anything else holla back youngin' 8)
