I may happen to dislike certain inhabitants of Hoosierland

I am staying south of Mittenworld, who the hell would want to live there? :D

I personally find TB and hepatitis much scarier. Especially TB that I start taking care of before we know it's TB. That was a fun day! "Wait, what do you mean you just moved them to the negative pressure room? Aw hell!"

Agreed, Wendy. Nec fasc is generally not transmissible unless you put in a good effort to get it since it is usually cause by a bacteria that is already on your skin. It is those nasty transmissible bugs that cause long term problems that should scare the hell out of you.

All this TB talk the month I start on Anti-TNF therapy.

I have also transported a patient with necfesc of the hand. I kept it covered and started a line in the other one... Nothing special

TB is no sweat here. We see it all the time. Hepatitis is indeed scarier.

DFIB, you should do some research on TB, particularly in India. Pretty scary stuff.

Very true. I have had a positive TB skin test since I was 6, I don't know if it was because of the BCG or airborne exposure. After 39 years thank goodness the yearly CXR's are still negative. I have known and had contact with TB patients my entire life.

We have had 2 resistant strain cases in our area in the last three years. It is a horrible disease but one I see a lot. I find patients on Rifampin from time to time. Our standard precautions include a facemask.

I should probably be more concerned but strangely am not.

EDIT: It is actually pretty hard to get if you are a healthy, well nourished person with no risk factors.

Yeah, Hep is much scarier, just ask one of my friends with a liver destroyed by Hep c. I'll bet he'd say he'd rather have TB or Nec fAc over End STage liver failure any day of the week.
