>A 1994 study of 7,000 former players by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health found linemen had a 52 percent greater risk of dying from heart disease than the general population. While U.S. life expectancy is 77.6 years, recent studies suggest the average for NFL players is 55, 52 for linemen.<

whats really sad is the players from the 60's -70s who didnt have the chance to make big money like they do today. They have all of the same injuries, but no money to pay for their healthcare. The NFL should step up and help the old guys.

what are your reasons behind the nfl stepping up to help them. It was a different time back then.
