crotchitymedic1986
A common theme in this forum is that EMS has a higher divorce rate than other careers. I would like to find out if it is true. So if you are, or have been married, please take a moment to answer the poll. Thanks.
Lone Star
I'm divorced, but it had nothing to do with EMS, Fire or Law Enforcement.
crotchitymedic1986
Thats what i am curious about. We know that the normal divorce rate is 50%, so is the EMS rate really any higher than that ? Some people believe we are more apt to have affairs, but my take is that people who have affairs would have had affairs regardless of where they work. Long hours and low pay can obviously strain a marriage, but there are many jobs that pay less or about the same as EMS.

Richard B the EMT
You DO realize that the biggest cause of divorce is MARRIAGE?
Eydawn
All of my romantic relationships have been longer than some marriages... High school sweetheart: 2 years, 9 months College fling: 1.5 years Current relationship: 2 years, 8 months, common law marriage, engaged to be formally married. Been in EMS since just after the first relationship started... Wendy CO EMT-B
itku2er
My divorce had nothing to do with EMS either.
Ridryder 911
NREMT did a formal study and prevailed there was no higher percentage than normal marriages. I can attest EMS did interfere with my relationships, unfortunately they were also involved in EMS as well. R/r
