Hey guys from NYC. I want to be a paramedic one day and also serve in the military either in the Army or the Marines, but probably the Army since I can get a job as a combat medic. Hopefully I'll be an EMT-B by the the start of summer.

If you're wanting to be a medic for the Mariens, join the Navy and become a Hospital Corpsman. The Navy supplies the Marines medics.

BTW: Welcome.

Sup.

Just go join the military now and get your training/exposure for free. Of course you will not be an EMT Basic in the ARMY, you will be called a medic and trained to their standards which has no crossover to the civilian world but at least you can be there now doing that stuff.

Finish your schooling.

Then if you are feeling patriotic 4 years from now, go sign up and be an officer. The wars will still be going on...somewhere, so there will be plenty for you to do and a desperate need for intelligent leaders.

Being an IDC in the Navy is a pretty sweet gig. I would never choose being an ARMY grunt medic over IDC if I had the choice. If you want action, remember the Navy supplies the Marines with all their medical support....so you would always be first in somewhere and you would be where the action is.
