Painful to watch.

One theme that kept running throughout the whole video was how gratifying it is to "save" somebody. It made "me" feel great about "myself". That is not what EMS is about. It's not about us and how it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy. It is about providing pt. care and thats all.

Nice job with the first patient with asthma.

You know, when they say, that this is "who I am".... it troubles me,,,, this will lead to a lot of failed relationships, bad marriages, and family problems,,, overindulging in EMS and using it as your "out" so to speak is not a goodf idea. Especially when you at that young..... like that 16 y/o said.

This will not solve the EMS problem in NJ, just make a lot more wannabees... IMHO

Clearly this is the answer to all of the problems in EMS. We need to get rid of the unions, and the paid services. With the economy, people can't afford to pay ambulance bills. Likewise, with all of the paid ambulance drivers, that is why people have to pay. The best thing to do is to provide 24 hour free ambulances, with volunteer EMT's and Paramedic's. Studies show that 92% of paid EMT's and 96% of paid Paramedic's are cocky and arrogant. This is what is ruining EMS. This will leave more money for all the people who can't afford a Taxi ride, this way they can call an ambulance when they need a ride, and get first class care for absolutely nothing. Homeless people on the street, the volunteer ambulances, staffed with paramedic ambulance drivers, need to get these people in hospital beds, so they can be warm and fed. The best thing that the government can do, is pass a law that makes Paramedic training work for Soccer Mom's who have very little time. They can take the course in less time than the EMT course, by having it online, and simplified, so that even if they didn't graduate from high school, or have learning problems, they can pass with a minimum score of 40. I mean, how hard can it be, right? To have it all online, watching videos, instead of doing the hands on work. I agree, everyone needs to be a paramedic. Get rid of Ambulance Drivers (EMT's and CFR's) and make them paramedics, with like a class at night for a week.

  • Blaze Claims Geraldo's Vintage Cars

Posted October 6, 2008 EST

New Jersey - A fire destroyed two vintage cars, apparently owned by TV personality Geraldo Rivera, in a garage on North Shore Road in the Colony neighborhood. Police Detective Lt. William Skidmore said the blaze, which was reported at 4:12 a.m. Friday, destroyed two restored 1954 Jaguars.

Neighbors said Rivera owned the garage, although Skidmore declined to confirm that.

He said the garage, which is attached to a house, was owned by a resident who lives across the street.

Skidmore said four fire engines responded to the fire within minutes, but found the interior of the garage already "fully involved" in flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in minutes.

The attached house was occupied, but was not affected by the fire, which was confined to the poured-concrete garage.

"It is not suspicious," Skidmore said. "We don't believe it was arson. There is nothing to indicate it at this time."

Hours after the blaze, the gutted shells of the two Jaguars remained in the garage, one without its hood. Burnt timbers and ash were piled in the corners, and the roof gutters hung from the eaves.

The 60-year-old Colony complex includes some of the most expensive property in the borough.

The cooperative of single-family homes lines the Hudson River just south of the George Washington Bridge.

  • Article says they responded within "minutes". Geraldo says it took them half an hour, and complained that it was a volunteer department. Not that Geraldo has any credibility on anything. And he knew it was a VFD when he moved there, so he's a dumbass.
