How we have improved in EMS per Dr Bledsoe.

I think starting from scratch would be very difficult. It's not easy to get people committed, have them stay together, and raise funds on a large scale. I've seen many good quality organizations start (for different fields) and go no where, die off, or keep steady, but not grow enough to have political clout.

The bigger ones were always the ones with the professionals and people with doctorates...that way when someone pushes for legislation it's not just "this person from this field says ___", rather it's "Dr. ___, specialist in ___ says ___"

The first step in the process could be a grassroots movement, Bledsoe has multiple acres of pastureland for camping so perhaps emstock could be the place to get "the ball rolling" persay.

No it will not be easy, cheap or without many hurdles to overcome but without an honest effort NOTHIng will be accomplished except "idle chat and bitching" it I believe is human nature to get caught up in the trivial issues, I digress.

The provincial regulatory bodies got together and contribute about 15 bucks per practitioner to the National cause and put some ca$h in the coffers, I can only imaging with the NREMT-P level (during examination process) the funds that would become available for lobbing)

We have had some serious advancement with a group in Canada called PAC (Paramedics of Canada) ONE COLLECTIVE VOICE and a general consense in regards to the MAJOR issues, this group has had quite a few positive lobbies and has had positive outcomes ... it started being more effective when individual practitioners showed up on the steps of the house of Parliament. So I guess I an agreeing with Rid, that one has to to take action.

Do I be so bold as to suggest: look UP NORTH for a model that is making some headway? I dare say without putting words in BEBs mouth .... oh wait a second he already stated that in another publication.... look beyond your borders for solutions, and don't reinvent the wheel.

There are Cultural differences but conceptually in North American delivery of health care is quite similar.

cheers
