  1. I thaught it was a play on letters like S.A.M.P.L.E. I've been seeing it here and on run reports. Not the things in oysters.
  2. Since we're talking assessments, I was wondering what is a pearls assessment?
  3. Get the squads yet? If not, Heres' my 2 cents. If the salesman only cares about commission and he's giving you the run-arround, I would go somewhere else. Evidentually, if the service is like that while your working out the details, I would assume that if the do your mechanical work too, just imagine what that will turn out to be. Seems like he only cares about himself.
  4. what about the 2500 or 3500 series? If you want a heavier truck like the 4500 series for a squad, maybe you could add on a rescue service. Have an extra large squad and outside of the unit would have compartments to hold jaws and other stuff to take up the extra weight.
  5. I can't get the link to work.
  6. Although there is a thread on stupid things said on calls, What are the stupid things actually done on calls? I'll be honest. Backboarded a patient who complained of leg pain when he fell (lost balance) and did everything except a c-collar. I should have known better.
  7. I'm not so sure, but I'm thinking : "school of rock" for some reason.
  8. "I'm looking for a certian penthouse pet" "How come I have a feeling you'll be the death of me?"
  9. thbarnes, You are right. You cannot hold any EMT licensing at all with a felony record. It asks on the application if you have been a convicted felon and also asks for explanation. In fact, A person cannot become a public servant with a felony record. Thats' why most agencies do background checks which is a good thing. I would rather lay there and die than have a felon working on me. http://www.nremt.org/about/policy_felony.asp I say enough said, self explained. 8)
  10. Not to hijack your thread, But we had a simular situation. Our patient was extremely combative. We had 4 state police officers on scene holding this paient down while trying to perform patient care, yelling let me go before the police arrive. We had 3 other EMTs' holding him down and finally got him on the backboard and into the squad. He was fighting all the way there and was really calm when thry pulled upto the hospital entrance. 8 minutes later, Mind you that we didn't and could not perform patient care. The ER Doc walks out and asks: How come you people didn't perfom patient care? Too combative, took all we had to hold him down. RE Doc: Does this explain why he wasn't searched? Then he pulls a bag from behind him and shows us a knife and alot of drug paraphenellia. He had all from crack, marijuana to PCP. The only thing we could find funny was 2 of the officers had thier tazers out ready to just let him have it at the scene while others were holding the patient down. Of course they knew better.
  11. I would say screw them and move on. Sometimes a good lawsuit would make a wrong into a right. In a MCI or even a severe medical or trauma call, They will need a medic. They can't CYA themselves since your the only medic. They'll learn that they made a mistake sooner or later.
  12. I'm still planning on joining those. I looked at www.dmat.com or .org something like that through another post. Anyways, when I sent an email, it did not work. The map showed Chic, Ill. as our region 6 HQ. How do I reach them?
