  1. This was forwarded to me by a CAF P.A. (ex sandbox) who is down on her luck but has the clarity to understand how good she has it.

If this short story does move you ... get a shovel your dead.

    cheers

i see spenac is viewing too ...

  2. No intent to make you upset Sarah .. Yes a frontal impact can do great damage but you have not informed us if he had a seat belt on ? .. its just so very difficult to say overall with the information you provided it would speculation only without details xrays, ct scans, lab values +++ , and pericardial effusion can be caused by infections as well, just saying. There is great disagreement in the cyanosis nipple line up in regards to a high aortic rupture as well, there are no hard and fast rules in life or death.

Best advise is get the autopsy report, you can access as a family member but it may traumatize you even more.

Here is a link to click on it may help answer some of your questions.

  3. Let's remove the homosexual element from this for a minute, and talk about another group of people who's sexual expression is not maintstream; BDSM. <snip for brevity>

I find your entire post curiously stimulating .. Call me any time !!!!!!

Due to tremendous effort and sacrifice on the part of a lot of people, it is now ILLEGAL to fire people for their sexual orientation. Gay people still face a lot of discrimination in many areas.

But as a white anglo saxon taxpaying divorced Male I cant say jack shit and if they use this protective measure as job security ONLY ? Then about a women dressing in Victoria Secret lacy underwear, so obvious to all the intent or of a gay guy gossiping in public because his buddy is hung like a horse this all acceptable, seriously there is one group that is suppressed in freedom of speech and it is not the gay community or women these days .. favourite saying in the workplace today that comment made me feel "UNCOMFORTABLE" WTF over ? Then one is guilty until proven inocent .. oh dont get me going !

Gay Pride day is one day to take these activities and make them public.. to be open and proud of the things that fulfill and exhilarate you. It can be a giddy feeling, and yes.. even reckless. There are those that purposefully "scare the horses". That can be an act of aggression and anger. It's throwing all those labels into the face of society and saying YEAH - I AM A SICK AND DISGUSTING PERVERT - what are you gonna do about it?

    Agreed.

Certain displays offend you? Why? Primal disgust at men sucking each others dicks? Why? Pissing on each other? Why?

    In public YES !

So much of what we hold as "correct" in sexuality in this country is repressed puritanism. Question it. Believe me, your mind (and your sex life) will soar.

    Teach me PLEASE !

<snip picture of fat fairy >

... and this offends you Mobey?

It offends ME .. ewwweee .. this should be reported to the fashion police he has no sense of style and thank god I cant see his shoes !

  4. When you are the oppressing race/or sex that discriminates against the others, you tend to get a backlash when those persons are freed:

    Freed ?

OMG homosexuality has been around since the dawn of time wtf ? Do what you want, have sex with goats, I personally don't give a rats ass but please don't push your sense of values on me, do I have a "I don't get any parade day" no and I DEMAND my permit !

    1. During the civil rights movement, some blacks were peaceful, some were not -- The black panther party was formed, their were riots, and even MLK's peaceful protests were met with disdain by the whites in those communities.

Ok your now comparing a fringe group based on sexual preference to a huge race discrimination issue ?

    2. When women went for equal rights, they protested, and burned their bras in public, which infuriated men (how dare she even speak a thought without my permission).

Pretty blanket statement there you do realise your stereotyping all males from the 1920s up to present day.

    3. The Arab Spring has been incredibly violent.

So now religious based uprisings against dictators are anywhere near a comparison ? your killing me here !

4.. As gays are allowed to be out of the closet a little more, some will do things to purposefully push your buttons in public.

Ezactly my point (perhaps you did not READ my post ?) for an intelligent approach for acceptance of a gay community, and my father always said you can catch more flys with honey than you can with battery acid, get a grip on reality mate. Just an idea how about "Gays To End Poverty" the moneys used for costume alone would feed many many children that live in squalor, you know I could get behind that (no pun intended)

That's the price you pay for trying to oppress someone else. Captain kickass, you might as well have asked why cant we have a "white" NACCP, united negro college fund, African american history month ? My parade does nothing to harm you or your marriage, but we know what the real problem is when straights get offended ............ it is because you have to confront your own homosexuality that is inside you, and you don't like to have those thoughts.

Really is that right, that ALL people have latent homosexual thoughts that's extremely interesting, where did you get that theory ... Desmond Morris ?

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Albert Einstein

Ask yourself one question flaming is Gay Pride Parade day working well for you to be accepted in mainstream america ? .. ps read the last 6 pages.

  5. he was 46 years old, and i need to know was it the car accident and the injury he sustained and the hospital did not treat just sent him home with pt info on a chest bruise

i did not find out about the pericardial enfussion until yesterday the 7th of december he died dece3mber 1st cynasosi of mipple to head

does any one know idf he could of lived with that if the hospital would of treated when it happened

If this is actually a true incident I will agree with my respected colleague mobey ... We are truly sorry for your loss.

That said: The manner in which this is written, presented, punctuated and the sentence structure leave's serious doubt in my mind that you are a "med student" The root cause of a death sound's from your description from an MVC, repeated for clarity the root cause, health care negligence, misdiagnosis, the failure of deployment of airbags nor even if your husband wearing a seatbelt, or even what was his Past medical history. It would be folly to eve suggest or try to answer your question from your post and COD cannot be determined from an on line website or advice column.

A word of advice ... any Lawyer in a suspected wrong full death suit will tell you that you have a chance of winning a lawsuit but it will not replace your lost husband and could cost you a great deal of money and personal agony.

As a side bar, perhaps obtain the autopsy report this could help point you in the right direction and by the way a pericardial effusion can have numerous causes.

    cheers

  6. OUCH Richard .... now that's just mean and hurtful .. <sniff> your treating me differently :rolleyes2:

I will now speak my mind very truthfully, having a "Parade" to celebrate ones sexual preferences is offensive to many traditionalists and it is simply offensive many it does not generate good, will it is completely counter productive, flaunting ones "sexual preferences" in public is a militant move, just because one is permitted under rights and freedoms to have a that right doesn't mean its a good idea .

I have worked with many and have very very good friends that are bisexual, lesbian or flaming gay and those that one would never know, I pick the latter group to hang with because they don't try to shove anything down my throat, well so to speak.

If ones life and ego/ id is dependant on one's sexuality alone .. well those "stereotypes" deserve the negative reputation they receive and I believe have very deep seated mental issues other than thier sexuality. I was married at one time and walked hand in hand, but never frenched kissed in public, that's sooo high school, the "Hey Look at Me" attitude, very childish IMHO.

I have had complaints from one "ethnic group" that I deal with every day, they are far more racists / sexist than myself by leaps and bounds with a sense of arrogant entitlement that is self defeating.

Then when I am told "your treating me differently because I am ______ " My response ... No I'm treating you differently because your are proving your being an ass-hole to me.

    cheers

  7. Depending on your logistical support and comfort level, is a slit lamp a viable option?

This was written a year ago, there is some inside joking going on tongue in cheek with the OZ and a good friend Donn (was a friend of Robs too btw) he was very knowledgeable about eyes and he would have suggested a slit lamp, was pulling his leg a bit is all, this was originally posted on a Remote support UK website.

So No, a slit lamp was out of the question in the back of any MTC, but I was seeing 3 eyes a day minimum the pretend magni focuser was pitiful / useless.

I have since settled for a classic USA military issue OPHTHALMOSCOPE OTOSCOPE from a CAF medic lady friend trading kit, she found it in the sandbox lost somehow ? LOL .. fair trade for kit, she got my old L scope, a couple bedside troponoin tests and she threw in a couple OLEAS bandages for good measure http://www.ctoms.ca/...r-bandage?cat=8

Got to love trading kit with military types :punk:

http://www.usamma.ar...ERT_STARTUP.pdf Still teaching myself how to use it properly .. eyes are the one of the most interesting of all the organs IMHO.

Trying to kick start a "Remote Practice Forum" ... and a dialogue for those in austere settings as it is a way different look at the world than working on a rural or urban setting truck with 2 partners of which you are very familiar, chbare .

    cheers

    cheers

  8. I would like to post a bit of a reflection on my last winters deployment entitled the assent of man in the oilpatch chapter 8 i.e PIPELINERS.

    Et All:

I find myself sitting staring, albeit somewhat empty minded or mildly hypothermic (you choose) as its dark and - 34 C (ps no poofter wind-chill factor included) gazing across a somewhat less than picturesque view of miles and miles of what the locals call "SKEG" home to caribou, moose, wolves and foxes and no NOT what YOUR thinking Dustdevil Rob Davis !

I am accompanied by the local tribe's the indigenous peoples here called "pipeliners". I believe that they may be distantly related to those union OZ types as the word union and beers is overheard and used in the same sentence. Although much more protective clothing is worn than the typical OZ PPE beach shorts with my wards. It is my theorem that these pipeliners are culturally distinct group in so far as my documentation is concerned, primarily due to a higher than average risk injury to eyes.

As all the members of this board can identify medical terms, specifically: "occularslagotitis" with associated comorbidity of "latereportit" with of course the complication's of digitally impacted and iatrogenic "grinditindanggoodis" adjuncts used to assist in this last pathology would be gloves, covered filthy crap and kitty litter.

Through observation, a very curious neurological disorder also exists in this sub species' of this tribal oilpatch worker. What I have named the "preflashheadbobatosis" this is rapid twitch response is observed just preceding a large flash of light (well ... SOMETIMES !)

This as my supply of tetracaine, OTC ibuprophen and muscle relaxants dwindles, and all double locked up documented to the tablet (in SEA CAN) Fortunately there is no shortage of material for "cool" compresses as in sandwich bag's and somewhat "sterile" solid state precipitation abounds (avoid the yellow snow, svp)

I have in the last fortnight had 6 lovely deep corneal lacs, intruding into pupil, grinder dust ++++, plus these rusty red hallos surrounding fixated piece's of black crap, most highly likely been in situ for years .... although "very attractive in some" ???? LOL !

Word is out from tribal leader / company safety man (ex mil) that a memo has been issued and the field ophthalmologist (underpaid I add) is now accepting new patients, no appointments necessary, field calls to be placed in sequoia as "Eye / Involved / Observed / Underreported" list, hereon after to be called the EIOU (and most times Y ?) ...SIR !

Tips of the fingers have some problems remaining attached as well most curiously "tipodigitousamputosis" or "squashmefingerosis" is a close second, although root cause could be congenital in some, genetic lack of focus in others, a study is being debated to undertake. said study, presently awaiting funding with grog ration as pre payment.

    So after lengthy preamble:

I am asking for some advice, as my eye examination skills are a bit challenged or perhaps my eyes are challenged, as this is probably closer to the real truth. I have a flip down cheap ass 'magnafocuser' good for identifying things the size of coins, roots of trees and the like, but crappy for much else. I am looking to invest in a real ottoscope and / or a Sherlock Holmes magnifier ... if the group would be so kind as to suggest their devices for more comprehensive microscopic eye examination my ears are open, and NO Donn B. there is no room in my MTC (aka Mobil Treatment Center mounted on a 4x4 camper) for a slit lamp, something hand held, for walkabout rounds.

Any suggestion(s) most kindly accepted .

    chers

  10. Fixed wing ambulance presents themselves as an extension of ground ambulance. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Yes and No .. the contracted fixed wing do no where near have the same "PR" budgets, and AHS controls all and any release of information.

STARS "sell" themselves as lifesaving hero's much like Fire, and they reap the rewards of that. We too have the same option but CHOOSE not too.

Yes we choose to not (as a group) to be anything other than apathetic ... that said .... SOME those that voice opinions contrary to the present governments --> direction are black balled or worse.

Here we are back to the problem of needing an association to represent us .

Agreed, but we did have an association, but were by-law'ed out of existence in our so called "self governing body" I was there on that day ... and maybe 20 others that saw the writing on the wall under and I quote "Just in house tiding up of the old by-laws" .. er sweeping the dust under a rug giving the non elected powers that be complete control.

That said: I am not a hater of HEMS in this province, many of the folks I know and love fly in the Blood Clot but the total control by an non public entity ??? in a "Public Health care system" this is a DIRECT RESULT of the Provincial Conservatives intentionality offloading costs to the public, loto funds, calendar and ring sales and a begging the oil companies for donations (very frequently under false pretences that STARS will save you when your 300 kms from a centralized base, that in a BK 117 that flys at 130 kts. just do the math) .. then the PC in the same breath tell us how great they are at preserving "Public Delivery of Health Care'.

What is completely shocking that Saskatchewan ..where Tommy Douglas is considered a saviour, well Mr. Brad Wall hang your head in shame ... not only offloading costs but unfair / illegal tendering of contacts behind closed doors.

  11. Ahem you mean "guidelines" right Mobster ?

STARS yes the new monopoly private HEMS service for Western Canada with a lotteries licence to print money, and tax free NOW with the last C 185 crash are doing SAR work wtf is CAF and "our" just one of the 16 SAR CAF Cormorants that can actuarial do vertical "Rescue" ?

Not stirring the pot in the slightest, just calling the way it is actually is, but if the Provincial governments are going to give 20 years "rights to contract" one would believe (like any other Government contract) that an RFP (i.e Requisition for Proposal) should in all fairness be tendered to all the other cost effective Helocopter operators heck maybe even one that is exclsive to that province .. maybe Canadian helos (btw the 4 largest feet of Helicopters WORLD WIDE including all World military Hel fleets) This is offloading the costs of Health Care Delivery to the public .. way to go AB PC .. more pass the buck under the auspice of 1- "the golden hour farce" ands "STARS saves lives" oddly the dedicated fixed wing KA 200s (12 operate daily) out of 8 bases around the province are just doing "transfers" with a ratio of 7:1 <cough>

    cheers

    cheers

  12. From the early days of "Spark Gap" radios, especially in Maritime and Naval activities, Sparks or Sparky is the nickname of any shipboard radio operator.

Not this Sparkie ... it was for an entirely different reason, I might blush telling the story .
