  1. If you have a bad back, EMS is probably not something you want to get into. Especially when you get those 500+ pound patients who cannot move under their own power.
  2. I just jet to my private island and devise my next diabolical scheme :)/
  3. Actually, you can become a registered nurse with a 2 year degree (Same amount of hours as Paramedic Associates Degree) The Wife and I just finished Medic School-for fun no less!... she is going to Nursing school now to continue on in healthcare. We both already have bachelors degrees in professional disciplines--so will that make us Paragods?? In the 3 years we have been involved with the volunteer department here, we have encountered quite a few paragods--to include the ones who shove "lower" providers out of the way--and there are persons who are firemen (with ZERO training--not even FR) who think they know more than the ER Docs. They all make me furious at times--but my wife keeps reminding me that we are doing what we are doing to help other people--not to worry about some juvenile minded schmucks whose short sighted actions would not amount to a hill of beans. Their actions speak louder than words---they do not know what they are doing--and if you make enough to do about it, seemingly no one will question your all knowing status. Guess that is what education is supposed to teach you...How little you truly know.
  4. How about a Johnny Reb Cannon? OR am I dating myself?
  5. In my real job in IT (Being a medic is for fun! hahahaa) I have encountered this sort of thing...like the time we had a guy come in supposedly with a MS in Computer Science...he didn't know what a mouse was...or how to use it. You usually encounter this when you have a new grad who is hired and have to teach them to program C or some language they should already know... I have several degrees...but they didn't teach me everything I needed to know--you have to take what you have learned and apply yourself-and learn how to do it to the best of your abilities. The degree is only preparation for the real world, not replacing it.
  6. The certification doesn't require you to complete additional courses in humanities (Literature etc.), ethics, a history, and 4 electives. You will save about 1 semester's tuition not getting the degree vs. getting the cert. I already have other advanced degrees, so I will recieve the Associates of Applied Technology with credit recieved from other degree programs.
  7. Guess that is why they made us do our advanced airway rotations for medic school at the animal clinic rather than at the hospital...
