  1. This is a web site I used for the last month and a half to practice for my NREMT-B exam, the site is www.emt-national-training.com It was very helpful and it will track your scores, tell you were to focus, give rational, even tell you were to look for the sources that have provided the info on the question, run a full NREMT simulation, flash cards, you can pick between subjects and tell it how many question's you would like and it was really amazing and helped me out a TON !!! My test shut off at 76, i did on average 100-150 questions a day and was reading all the subject's that i had problems with and could visually see my scores coming up everyday. Good luck to all and be safe.
  2. I woke up to amazing news I PASSED thank you lord I can now get a goodnights sleep.
  3. I took my test today and it shut off at 76 after 45 min I think I did well, in the past few weeks I have done almost 300 questions a day from EMT-Naional-training .com, went over OB/GYN, Medical emergency's, and so on. The waiting for the results is killing me !!!!! All of my pre-test were in the 80's to low 90's so i have faith . On average how long did some of you that took the test wait for results?
  4. What did you do to prep for the test ? I am on a routine of doing 100 questions a day from my EMT Success by Brady book's, I also reread a chapter either on soft tissue trauma, Cardiac emergency, Abdominal emergency's , Behavioral, Psych, OB/GY, Respiratory, and all the other core subjects, And I do all the Critical thinking exercises. I do already have my state certification but I go up to test for the NREMT-B on July 29th. I know all people do not learn, study or take in the info the same I would just like to see what worked for you, Thanks and of course CONGRATS !!!!
  5. Congrats, I hope I can say the same thing in a month or so, have to study more first, but none the less congrats and I hope you continue to do well in your pursuits.
  6. Ah, So everyone had to do something similar to the courses I listed, But you are right some places do just want a pulse and a patch needless to say I will not be working for the places that do just want a pulse and a patch. Does anybody have more suggestions for NIMS courses that I will use as a basic that I have not listed, The way I look at it the more I know the better off patients and I am all together and it never hurts to learn more then what is expected of you, you might need to use it someday. Thanks for the input.
  7. Good morning to all and I hope all is well out there, So I just wanted to ask a quick question involving what other prerequisites were involved in other students pursuits before they could attend school ( E.M.T -B ) , i know all states are not the same I just want to get a general idea of other peoples path for school, Thank you. Before I could attend School I had to have the following mini-courses completed. I.C.S 100 Incident Command Systems. I.C.S 200 Incident Command Systems for single resources and initial action incidents. Both of the I.C.S courses are done by FEMA. Then a course that teaches you how to spot and respond to a patient with functional needs. And then the next to last course that teaches how to spot and respond to a patient with Autism Spectrum Disorder. And last but not least AWR-160 That is a course ran by TEEX ( Texas Engineering Extension Service ) This course is for WMD/ HAZ MAT / And terrorism awareness for Emergency First Responders. I am Attending a State Training program, I am just curious if there are a lot of other students out there that have taken these courses and what they thought of them. My state of training is Indiana, Thank you for your time and best wishes to all.
  8. Very true didn't notice it at first, thank you for correcting me and my spelling and grammer will be paid close attention to from now on.
  9. @ Capatain, I am planning on working in both Indiana and Kentucky since I live right on the Ohio river on the Indiana side Just across the river from Louisville. The main company here is AMR and I know I meet there guidelines as far as the other company ( yellow ambulance ) I am not sure so thank you for the advice I will call them this week. Yes I am talking about the insurance to drive a rig sorry for not being clear. Indiana Department of Homeland Security is who handles all of indiana's EMS certifications and guidelines adopted from the NREMT guidelines for license's . My services record is spotless and with plenty of merits for actions on duty. As far as the spelling and grammer this is a forum thanks for the advice though.
  10. Hello I got a dui seven years ago and have been on the straight and narrow since and complied with all monitary and legal issues that were involved including a 6 month substance abuse with UA'S and BA'S with none failed and a letter from the therapist stating I do not have any substance abuse problems or alcohol. Just made a bad decision at the wrong time I know in the EMS field this is cardinal sin it happend when I was 22 I am now 28 and in the middle of EMT-B school after getting out of the U.S Coast Guard for four years and would love to advance in the civilian filed of EMS. Question is how hard is my battle going to be to get insured I all ready check'd with Indian department of homeland security and the NREMT policy I fall in the classification of minimal risk and will be able to get both certificates but how hard is it going to be for me to get insured ? Thanks in advance and please no ( you are the worst person in the world stuff for the dui I KNOW I made a mistake and have grown up alot since)
