  1. Has she traveled lately? Does she smoke? What's her daily activity like? Does she work? If so, where? Has anything like this happened to her before?
  2. Where is the tenderness? Ridgitiy, pulsing, etc?
  3. What was she doing when this started? How long ago? Anything make it better or worse? Where in her stomach does it hurt? Any chance she's pregnant? Did it start suddenly or gradually? How has she felt the past few days? Any shortness of breath?
  4. Wish granted, you can now go anywhere you want to go. You just can't get back home. I wish I could get super ripped muscles sitting on the couch eating chocolate truffles.
  5. I was taught last semester, in my emt-b training, that npa's were completely contraindicated with facial trauma. I always thought that didn't sound right if it was only basic's on scene and your pt needs an airway. I could see using caution, of course. Seems that a lot of stuff is like that. Like two large bore iv's for just about every pt and a nrb at 15 liters for all pts.
  6. This is a perfect example of why more people should be getting cpr training. You never know when you might need. Against the advice of my proctors and a few emt's/medics, I carry a pocket mask with me at all times. Even with an aed you'll still need cpr. I found out that at some of the places around here with aed's people are trained to use the aed but not to give cpr.
  7. Wish granted, you have your jaw. But you have no teeth at all and have to live on pureed everything. I wish cardiology/acls/ecg would fall into place for me!
  8. I've actually been wondering what a narrow or wide pulse pressure would mean. I knew it was important, but not why. Now I have at least part of my answer. Thanks for a great read!
  9. Wish granted. You have the answer to all and now you are indundated with requests nonstop. I wish I had some real cheeze it's instead of the nasty store brand.
  10. These are all great! I see a few I wouldn't mind having myself!
  11. Wish granted. You're an RN but the only job available at the hospital was in the "hospitality" field and you're mopping floors for $6.50/hour. I wish I had a grilled cheese sandwich.
  12. Wish granted, but it came from a cracker jack box and doesn't actually have any moving parts. I wish I could get the bees to get away from my front door.
  13. Granted. The snow has stopped, the sun has come out, and it's 96 degrees and muggy from all the evaporating snowfall. I wish I had some kfc for lunch.
  14. Keep in mind, jwraider, that concern is not mistrust and that the issue may be more focused on not trusting your parter, not you. You wife may be concerned from a legal "is she going to try to sue him one day?" or from a marital "keep of my man" stand. Either way, it's likely to be more about the other woman than you. Just make sure your wife knows that you love her and only her and she'll adjust over time. Also, try to get her to meet your partner. Even though it rarely actually discourages the other woman if she does get any ideas, it still helps to put our minds at ease. And, unless you really want to be single or married to a wife that resents you, don't throw the fact that you are the bread winner in her face. That's a sure fire way to take the happiness out of your relationship. On the plus side, she would stop caring about the situation and may even start hoping the other woman will get you out of her hair.
  15. So, a post on another thread made me curious. Have you seen a great bumper sticker? Or do you have in your head that you'd like to see? One I'd like to create: Don't like my speed? Get a little closer and we'll see how you like it then!
  16. Wish granted. Your house is now filled with cotton candy and popsicles. I wish I could take down all fences and other obstacles to driving on the sidewalk since my state no longer allows Jeeps on the roadways!
  17. Wish granted, but now all 28 of the smart people left are arguing about the right way to repopulate the planet. (Do you have any idea how hard it was to find a downside to that!?) I wish I could finish fixing up my Jeep.
  18. Wish granted, but your paycheck was routed to someone else's account. I wish I would never run out of mt dew again!
  19. Here you go Aaron. It's under Students. Wasn't really sure where to put it, but that made sense to me. http://www.emtcity.com/index.php?showtopic=14607
  20. Wish granted, but the only thing you had available was a scrapple sandwich. I wish I could wake up tomorrow having finished school with straight a's.
  21. I noticed that we were told at some point that the burnt eggs in the pan were still in the shell. To me, this indicates that the altered LOC was present before the fire, rather than a result of the fire. I'm wondering if it could be some kind of psycological break. I've known a lot of bipolars and they have never presented this out of it. They may not have been rational, but they were coherent. I'm also wondering if maybe this patient has some sort of issues(i.e.-hepatitis, etc.) that could be interfering with how he is processing his medications and causing a toxicity at what would otherwise be a normal dose. Maybe he was miss diagnosed with bipolar and actually has something more along the lines of schizophrenia(could also explain the eggs still in the shell) or borderline personality? Just throwing some thoughts out there.
  22. A few weeks ago, I posted a thread on the phases of the heart. The answers to that were probably the most valuable I've learn so far. My favorite forum though is the scenarios which has been pretty dead lately. (hint hint to y'all wonderful scenario creators). I've learned alot from there not so much in information(though there has been a lot of info I've picked up) as just in using my critical thinking skills as applied to patient/scene management opposed to my beloved crossword puzzles.
  23. That was funny. Just so you know though, they suck. My mom bought me a set for Christmas and all but the first peice of crap is still in a cabinet.
  24. I started to type up stuff about my area, but then realized you'd be reading forever and decided to try to summarize(which is going to sound very vague, my apologies) and then if there was anything you wanted me expand on, let me know. I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia and I'm a native here(there aren't as many as you'd think), so I could go on for days about this area, good and bad. The good side first. My favorite is the choice of settings while still having access to everything. Apartments to mansions and everything in between. Seaside, country(rural), suburban, downtown. For example, right now I live in a more country type area but on through road. But I'm only about a 6 minute drive(if I catch all the red lights) from the rest of the area. About 5-10 minutes past me you get into the real country area. Once you pass the 10 minute mark, you're getting into the downright rural parts of the area(Pungo and Blackwater). They are closer to a different part of the in-city, so are still only about 10 minutes(20 if you get way out in either area) to the bigger city. They do have their own shops too though so you wouldn't have to do all the driving for, say, milk. There are activities of every kind. My favorites are the museums, nature preserves, and historic sites. Any activities you enjoy, let me know and I can tell what we have. Shopping and dining are the same way. You can find almost anything to suit your style/tastes. Now for the downside. Traffic can get kind thick during rush hour, though I've had people from other areas tell me it's not that bad. Maybe it's just me and my lack of patience? It's rarely at a stand still and that's usually limited to the interstates and certain major roads that I can steer you away from. Some areas of the city have quite a bit of jet noise from Oceana, our master jet base for the navy. If you were decide to come here, make sure your agent checks the noise level(provided by the city) and steers you clear of the flight path. Really, not that big a deal if your agent does their homework. There are lots of beautiful neighborhoods outside of the flight path and the newer homes are being built with at least some level of soundproofing. Other than that, you just want to steer away from the lower class areas which really aren't that bad either. We have a relatively low crime rate and some parts of the city are at or near zero, for various reasons. Either upscale or fairly rural. I know a lot of my neighbors don't lock their doors, ever, and have never had an intruder. We don't really have a shoulder on this road though so that probably factors in. I'll finish up now. This is the summary, believe it or not, so if I left out anything you'd like to know feel free to ask.
