    Hey guys I'm fairly new to this site so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong section. Anyways i will be going into paramedic school next year and was looking for some tips on preparing for this daunting course. Any advice would be much appreciated

    Just wondering, if you guys hate this show why are you still watching it?

    Normally it depends. If another rig has gone on a call and an area of the city is open, we will drive to that area and just wait in the ambulance. If we are near one of the stations we just relax watch some t.v, eat etc. some days you will get just one call in a 12 hour shift while on others you will get slammed with one call after another, its very unpredictable

    I agree, how am I misleading? Its common sense to at least volunteer so you can stay sharp and not forget anything Oh and by the way dust, I can tell him that because that is what i did and it worked for me. So what is so wrong about me giving help to others? lol but anyways i do wish you luck Explorer. If you go into the test feeling prepared and with a positive frame of mind you should have no problem passing!

    Yeah I know what you mean. Its pretty hecktic lol. I suggest once you become certified you volunteer at an agency to stay sharp

    I was told that the nr test tests you on your cognitive skills (such as decision making skills) rather than test questions. Its more like common sense stuff really. I took it a year ago and I believe what my instructor said was correct. I would say if you pass the final in your class and the practical exam you are basically in the clear

    lol i learned that habit in those exact words "expose or fail, your choice"

    get some good rest and stay away from your books the night before. If you are doing practicals for NR study the failing criteria among other things. That should help

    the game has just been released. Im downloading it now. You take a pretest to see if you qualify for the EMS edition or for the general public edition. its not too difficult

    true, i understand im not as educated and i do not have as much experience as alot of you but im a young EMT with some experience. I believe i do have a right to give an opinion. I didnt know the people on here were so strict

    lol what i was trying to say is that being an EMT-B for just a year and then becoming a paramedic just is not enough experience on the basic level. I had a very intelligent instructor tell me a good paramedic comes from a good EMT.

    Yeah im kinda wondering the same thing. In Colorado you cant even be an EMT until you are 18 years of age and to qualify for paramedic school you need at least a year of EMT-B experience. I can see a 19 or 20 year old paramedic but one year isnt nearly enough experience to go into paramedic school.

    hmmmmm.... in my area a 18 or 19 year old paramedic does not exist. Even in areas like yours a paramedic that young just seems too inexperienced

    Sorry i was meaing flail lol. But for the BLS (which i plan on working on soon) i was thinking i would possibly end up placing some form of splint in between the patient and the securing straps of the cot depending on the location of the segment. Would that work out fairly well in your opinion?

    Hey guys i am currently an emt-b student and just recently had my first practical examination. In my trauma station I had a 45 y.o male who was the victim of a MVA roll over. He had resperations at 6pm in which i had my partner assist in ventilation with the BVM. Along with this my patient had a frail chest segment in which i had my other partner place direct pressure on. I ended up passing that portion but some proctors disagreed and said it needed to be splinted. How would you guys treat this?
