  1. Excellent advice from you all, I'll be sure not to cram. And hopefully get some lovin the night before! This line of advice is geared more towards the written, but my actual intent was getting advice for the practical exams. We have to go through 4 scenarios; Major trauma in teams of 4, Minor trauma 2, Major medical 2, and minor medical 2 person teams. I'm very much more stressed about this than the written. Lately I've been forgetting simple things like getting 2nd sets of vitals, upgrading oxygen as needed, and so on. Thanks for the great advice so far and I'll appreciate whatever else you guys can tell me. (i test this thurs pm btw)
  2. So it's finals week for my EMT-B class and I feel the anxiety and nerves bearing down on me. Does anyone care to share their ways of calming down their stress levels before the big test? I feel pretty good about everything I've learned and I'm comfortable with all my classmates, but still, I can't help but worry worry worry. When in doubt: A, B, C, Control bleeding, Treat for shock, right?
  3. Thanks all for the replies on this, it certainly helped to google orthostatic vital signs for much much more info on this topic. The text book didn't seem to cover this procedure very well (if at all). This website seems like a great resource for the future, I'm sure I'll continue to use it. Thanks again!
  4. Hello! I have a question in regards to checking for postural changes in a Pt's BP. I'm almost finished with EMT class, and the checking for posturals has a become a big thing all of the sudden. We have been instructed to check posturals in Pts who are dizzy/weak, ab pain, or any Pt with suspected volume issues -unless they're already hypotensive, have cardiac issues, trauma, or 3rd Tri vaginal bleed-. SO, If there's a change of at least 20 mm/Hg in their systolic, does this indicate the need to call for ALS? I know this may depend on where you are, but I'm interested in what others have been taught. Thanks!
