  1. oh ok, now I see. and I can understand how your explorer kids could get irritating. lol yeah my username, L-A is "Lowell-adams" for the town and township that we're in and explorer is just the car I drive. lol The town I work in has a vol. service too. and it makes more runs statisticly than the nearest paid FD. does. lol I'm thinking about running with them too since I'm always around, and my hrs vary so much that I end up just hanging around my shop tinkering with stuff half the time when their tones drop. lol What can I say, we're in a very rural area. lol
  2. Actually, in our vol. service.... the EMT-B's are loved by our paramedics. We even make more runs than the medics do. (dont take that as being cocky, its just the stats.) I'm not sure what the term "explorer" means in the EMS world, thats the kind of car I drive, and I couldnt think of anything else when registering. Sorry for any confusion Please dont take this as a start to a P_ssing match, I dont want to step on toes. I just want to learn as much as I can, and modest begginings begin with a simple blow of the horn.
  3. I realy hope so. lol all this testing is driving me crazy! lol and to think I'm signed up for my fire class in april too. lol at least I might get a little break from class's between.
  4. I'm a vol. student who just finished his EMT-B class final tonight, and I'm ready to schedule my EMT exam asap. hopefully all goes well, I dont test well, never have. Get me in a squad and i know what I'm doing, get me in a test situation and I have trouble. lol Any advise from those who have taken the computerized test?
  5. So our dept. was called out to an unresponsive male subject, while in route the pager went off again. Dispatch told us that the subject was not unresponsive, his wife was trying to talk to him while he was watching a baseball game and he was only ignoring his wife until a commercial came on. during the commercial he showed all normal signs once again.
  6. Luckily I was not on this squad run. Basically right now all I am is lift assist and a "grab that for me" guy. My sister-in-law and another woman that I've know all my life was however. she said that he told her "Its a good thing your a woman or I'd knock you out.'' she also said that she thinks thats the only thing that kept them from going physicaly combatant. one thing that I know will come of all this is that the Ohio D.N.R. is all over these guys now. In ohio your not allowed having any alcohol on any state grounds, including the waterways. I guess that when this happens we all just need to pray that cooler heads can prevail.
  7. Recently our squad members were called out to a boating accident. 3 young adult males, drinking, bottomed their boat out and one was ejected. upon arrival, the two un-injured men started running their mouths, and threatened our E.M.T.'s, thankfully nothing happened. My question is this. Isn't it some kind of elevated penalty for assaulting an emergency team member? If not a felony shouldn't it be a higher misdemeanor? and what do you do in this case? Other than just try to keep your cool.
  8. hello Im new to the forum, and new to the L-A Vol. Fire Dept. in Lowell Ohio. were a small town (one stoplight) but I wouldnt have it any other way. I would have done this sooner but I worked on the road for the past 5 years. Hoping to learn a lot on here.
