  1. Sorry to hear you were sick firedoc!!! welcome back!!!

i too was just in hosp for over week several days in icu and then the heart floor in cooper pcu.

fluid around my heart and lungs, and now need to go get biopsey on lymphs. i got over 70% change of being lymph

now they did cap scan and several just lite up. having lupus has made things very complicated.

keep me in your thoughts all!

  2. sporty- I'm with you. I don't know what i would have done but let me tell you this you did what I feel you were led to do. There was an exchange that no matter what call you would have taken that day wouldn't have touched you or her nearly as much. To me it was appropriate and i believe you were put there that day just for that lady. you moved me with your story. Keep up the good work!

  3. Hi im 2wheelinemt I have been with emt city for awhile but everything is changed and i'm lost. So I thought i'd say hi.

I'v been involved in ems / rescue for 23 years. I love it everything trauma, ems, and and anything to help the public understand to help themselves or help ems / fire when we come knocking or they call 911. I started the vials for life over 10 yrs ago when no one else had anything like it. Since i was an cpr instr i wanted all my neighbors to learn cpr free by me! I'll go to my grave helping my neighbor no matter what it is.

so hi to all and know my love and desire run deep with certain things involving ems /trauma and helping my fellow man! :rolleyes:B)

  4. I like the idea of wearing the bracelet whether just that is valid or not. It gets you to remember for the dnr paper if you see that bracelet.

We like to keep everything the same or try and think how it will work. We don't know, just because one state it worked one way doesn't mean it will work that way in a different state. That is what NJ suffers form let all the other states make the mistakes and we'll just sit here and say see I told you so! Crazy stuff. We haven't moved forward in years because of that. Hek we can even make up our minds if we want to continue giving the Natl emt test instead of just the state test. ugh! Everything has to be soo hard, Not! Everyone makes mistakes and here we are waiting till there are no more mistakes from the other states, well we have a long long time, Because even the wonderful docs make mistakes. Were all human! :P

  5. [iam sorry but I had to jump here on th one comment that was made about who would you rather have put a tube in?

Well I was in he hosp for the past two weeks and the so called peope standing around that hae just ONE job to do intead of 5 different skills, well they messed up big time. I was getting a line in the neck and they totally blew it and sent a bleed into my neck and what the docs no thought to be a bleed into my chest. So whom is ready for what want to know? ;)

  6. [seat belts save lives. yes maybe there be one out there that if they weren't wearing a seatbelt they would be alive. But in my past 22 yrs experience I have seen first hand that seatbelt save lives no doubt. On a personal not I was involved in a head-on collision and that seatbelt saved me. Yes the engine came in and broke my leg and trapped me but if I didn't have it one I would be dead. My car hit a car head-on and them spun 3 more times I would have been killed from that. So yes I even wear it when driving and sitting in passenger seat of ambulance.

  7. I am quite confused at the thought that we need to with hold o2 to certain pt. I am not understanding this. i just spent over a week in Icu and then pcu on 02. As i see it i would not have been given o2 as far as your numbers and quotes. NO WAY !I can not go along with this.

I make myself aware of all the different studies out there to with holding o2 will benfit a pt. The AHA study and even the long studing from the Red Cross never give any reason. On a personal level of needing the o2, i needed it and maybe just maybe the fancy machines said everything looks fine, but i couldn't breath. With all the machines saying no o2, they trusted the pt and how it made you feel.

My biggest problem with all this is numbers rulling the pt not what the pt says that's living this. Listen to what your pt is saying not the book!! LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN to your pt!!!! :icecream:

  8. we have given up soo many rights of ours as it stands, everyone trying to force their way of thinking or do or dont do. all in the name of safety for us were your bike helmet, wear your seatbelt dont talk on the phone. when does it stop in 22 some years i have watched and not willingly so given up or taken more schools all so someone can feel in control. and where i ask does it stop? now to even what can be watched at the station? if you dont like it the station is a big place to go and get lost. get some reports done, read, hang upside down who cares just dont force what you view as unprofessional on everyone else in the name of being professional. do you really think that when you walk into that persons house having a heart attack that they care what you were just watching to make you worth treating them? and no im not for porn or any such thing but when youre on duty thats your house thats where you stay, eat, sleep, so why not watch what everyone wants or close to it and you can find something to do till its done.

  9. we had the same problem when i came on board. i called the guys in charge of those chairs and explained my problem. they brought the chair for my squad to use for a month. that was good enough for us to figure out what chair best suited us and the styker won hands down. the way the chair works from the treads, to the way the back goes up and down for us moving the pt to saving your back with all the saftety aspects on the chair. the colored straps in the middled of the night something( so simple ) its worth every dime the straps( being colored coded.) i really think the skyker is worth every penny. good luck! ;):o:o

  10. when we started 20yrs ago using helo's they came across the river to us and turned the rotatores off but now we use both nj state and pa helo's. they both have their way of doing things, depending on the update of the call also. it has always depended on the pilot. so we prepare for it both on every on our drills we hold. we would hold them twice a yr we have the helo down to drill with us hot and cold so we would stay updated and the newiebs would get updated too and not be scared around it. :)
