Never had to use one, dont really have a protocol provision for them either. I have heard for bleeding into the pelvis, the use of a large bowl and a pelvic binder, but I dont know how much internal damage that would cause.

Jonas I hope that back pay is included in that agreement. Binding arbitration has been a big push from the union due to essential services legislation but the government is steadfastly opposed. Kinda says that the government knows their offers have been crap

Byron James Chayeski, Age 38 was found deceased over the weekend, after being missing since last friday. Byron worked in North Battleford, as well as Canora SK and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral will be in Canora on Friday July 15th, EMS personnel are encouraged to come in uniform and be at the Canora EMS base by 1pm

Before signing we are the lowest paid EMS personnel in western Canada, and in Saskatchewan we actually have one of the highest costs of living relative to income. Yay

In alot of places Paramedic EMT and associated titles are legally protected. So I truly hope you are a "medic" because impersonating o e may be illegal. And sorry but even every EMT I know has a text book or two lying around that would tell you never to remove an impaled object. Where I am licensed we are required to recert in ITLS every two years, make it hard to forget something basic like that, for a medic at least.

While most people would probably agree that my big shears are probably a weapon, we are not allowed to carry weapons. We are not required to, but allowed to wear a Kevlar vest at our own expense. I personally hope to never have to carry a gun, but I do see the possibility of pepper spray or tasers.

Epi would be 0.5mg SQ of 1:1000, but since he is improving on the ventolin nebs it's not really indicated any more. Atrovent causes smooth muscle relaxation, should help open up this kids lungs some more

I agree Epi if he isn't moving enough air to get the nebs in then hit him with Epi right away.

And just to be anatomically correct, would the lung make a slap not a thud

Now does that have a separate handheld monitor or does it go to a laptop? Can it print strips of the three lead? Otherwise that thing would be awesome. If your not doing a 12 lead or defib that's about all you need.

I seem to remember reading about a patient monitor from Europe somewhere, much more like a traditional monitor, except it came apart into a screen, patient monitor, and defib.

What's his air entry like, what do I hear from auscultation of his lungs.

Where I am you require a year at a EMT level before going into the paramedic program. You can go straight out of school as an EMT with no work experience into the intermediate level.

Speaking from personal experience, if they want to pay for it, go for it. I found myself to be at a bit of a disadvantage when it came to assessment skills and confidence in my treatment plan when it came to scenarios and first field practicum, where others with much more field time seemed to have an easier go with it. Regardless your going to have to work your ass off, maybe a little more than some classmates with more experience. keep in mind though I don't work with a medic very much, others do, I had very little exposure to ALS medications before paramedic school so I had zero comfort level with those drugs.

your average shears have straight handles, don't see how it would change left or right. Mobey is right though, Big Shears are the best, or likewise German offering (big shears are just an importer of fine German scissors) but you pay for those.

Luckily there were no other injuries. For those who don't know Cutknife is in the Prairie North Health Region, about 45 minutes SW of North Battleford (about an hour and fifteen minutes NW of Saskatoon)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rick Wyatt, aged 58, of Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. He lost his life due to a motor vehicle accident at Neilburg, Saskatchewan on May 28, 2011. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Ann, three daughters, and their families, his father and two sisters.

Rick was an EMR and a valuable member of our Ambulance crew in Cut Knife since February 1998. He could always be counted on to take on-call shifts and the week-ends when no one else wanted them. He was also an active member of the community, always donating his time to some worthwhile cause, He was a member of the Elks and a member on the fire and rescue team in Cut Knife.

The past few years Rick had worked for the Co-op Farm Supply in Neilburg, but still managed to work the extra shifts with Ambulance. His passions were spending time with his family, working with the ambulance service and riding his Harley.

He was well known far and wide and will be greatly missed by his family, co-workers, the community and everyone whose lives he touched.

We have it in Sask, added last year in the PCP scope, was used by medics and EMT-A before that. Has the inability to hold the mask, pneumo and bowel obstruction contraindications and so forth. Works well in some cases, generally it requires the patient to listen to you.

Sounds like some form of seizure dissorder but its weird that it would switch sides, do they only happen when there is an increased stress level or is there other causes/no causes?

You said this is the first time the parents have witnessed it but have they been told about it before? If so did they mention it to the child's dr?

There is nothing that will ever make me miss grey shirts Mobey! Yeah the fresh prince was fun, the video didn't work perfect but it was alot of fun. Fitness I believe would be more suited to the EMT class, rather than Paramedic, but I still understand the point. I don't know if I want to admit this but.....I was the one dancing with the dummy.

Here in Canada it seems to be common for Medic students to make some type of EMS video as a class project. These usually end up being pretty funny, so post em if you got em.

Not really a fan of Harper but I guess his true colours will come out now that he can't use his minority excuse. He's still a crook in my book, he broke the law and was convicted. Canadians told him that we didn't care. Oh well.
