  1. Hey Echo, God bless you in your journey. I am a Christian also, and I am a member of a large non denominational church, Approaching 5000 members. My background in VFD and EMS goes back to the mid 70s, I was not active in VFD for many years because when I moved to NC, I was not in a Volly district. I got back into EMS service at my church about 4 years ago as a member of our EMS/Safety Team, and to help me in that ministry, I have just recently passed the EMT-B class and got my state certification, now I have joined our county Heavy Rescue Squad to further serve our community, and to help keep my skills up as well as get the required Con.Ed for certification. Long story short, you could serve in EMS and serve God at the same time! Best of luck wherever you wind up serving, Just be sure that you are following your hearts passion, after all, it is God who put that passion in you. JET EMT
  2. I carry a pair or overalls, and at least a good basic first aid kit, if not a jump bag in my car all the time, I am a volunteer also, and I travel a lot for my day job, about 1500 mls per week average, so I have come up on numerous accidents, etc. and I prefer to be prepared (that is the former scout in me) to respond in a professional appearing manner at least, also, no responder, regardless of level of training, can be any good to a pt. if they become another pt. themselves.
  3. Wow JPINFV , Did you have to take a [hypocritic] oath for your "job"? I hope you didn't break a nail or anything. I am going through the joining process now, for our County Heavy Rescue Squad, one of the primary requirements that they have is that all members must be an EMT, which only makes sense because there is not much point in rescueing a victim of an MVC or other incident, if you can't help them when you get to them. I was also a scout, Life Scout/O.A., aged out just prior to making Eagle.
  4. Hey everyone, My name is Jim, I geuss you could call me an Old, Newbie. I am 47 and have been an EMS volunteer for several years with my church, serving on our EMS team, it is a large non denominaional church with nearly 4000 members and regular attenders, I just recently graduated from EMT-B class and passed the NC State exam for my certification. I am also in the process of joining North Meck Rescue Squad, which is one of the busiest Heavy Rescue Squad in Mecklenburg County, NC second only to Charlotte City Fire Dept. I am looking forward to this Forum, I just found it and it seems to be an interesting site. Thanks, Jim
