I work 24's on 24 off 48 for 120 hours a pay period.

If I was teaching I would do as my trainer done and that was take real calls that you have run and other FR, EMT/B, EMT/P around you have run in the past and use those. A good FR should be ready for even the worst of calls. I started out as a Firefighter/First Responder @ a volunteer fire dept. our medic units were any where from 15 to 35 min. out. I have worked on GSW, Codes, MVC, CVA. We had 2 EMT-P at the dept. and 3 EMT-IV and 8 FR. The real calls used I think helped me all around. Good luck.

If I would have had no signed DNR, I would work it as a full code, however I thank you done the right thing in getting medical dir. from ED Dr. when in question ask form medical dir. gets the monkey off your back.

Our transports are about 35 min to 1 hour 1/2. We have no Hospitals in our county, so we must transport to surrounding counties. Our closes Trauma Hospital is about 70 miles. We try to use air medical units if weather permits use to do so if pt needs to go to trauma unit.
