  4. Ill give you a hand with it, i havent had much "formal" education on it, but ive written many similar things for EMS organizations and so on. shoot me a PM or email if you want and we can see if we can work something out
  5. TY for the input all. Like i said im gonna hunt down the TC tomorrow and talk to him about it
  6. thats the only rhythm i saw...i took a quick look when i got in the room, maybe she was a really weak V-fib or somethin..i dunno...it was early, i was tired, maybe i missed somethin, im gonna hunt down the TC tomorrow and talk to him about it. ive worked a whole hell of codes but this one was just a bit different than all the others
  7. Im an EMT-B in new jersey. At 430 this morning we got tapped out for a code. Life support (MICU with at least 1 MICRN and usually the paramedic tour chief) arrived about a minute before we did. When we were walking in they were just putting the moniter and pads on the pt. she was completely Asystolic (sp...im tired), she had an internal pacemaker..it shocked her a few times with absolutly no effect. We shocked her 3 times (dont remmember the power settings off hand) and still complete asystoly (yeah..i know..sp). Medics pushed some drugs after finally getting a line in at an ankle site (the POS bone gun didnt work and of the 3 times it was tried). and it took some time for the medic to tube her, both tried a few times, eventually it worked. anyway, the husband thought she was down for about 20-30 min. prior to calling, our responce time was 11 minutes. my question is, why did the medics feel the need to work her for 40 minutes on scene when she was completely flatline for 30 minutes and had no color change on the CO detector? am i missing something? or were we working her just for show? (i wasnt really able to talk to the medics afterwards, they got another job as soon as we dropped her off)
  8. it is a pain in the ass however, the app. is about the size of california's phone book
  9. nope, no medics. BLS only. The only ALS is through the hospital system (captial health). I also find it amusing that they bought that, and they also have an ambulance, which also never moves. BLS is done primarily through the other hospital system in the county (Robert Wood Johnson U.) Yeah, its a pretty screwed up system...but then again, this is NJ we are talking about
  10. yeah they are a good group of guys up there, pretty straight forward engine company...except for the stretcher
  11. Fire district 9 in mercer county, NJ has one , they have not used it since they bought it for PT transport  SEE HERE
  12. Ok ill jump on board to... Cell phone (mostly for calling into ERs because they never pick up the damn HEAR radio ) Shears between my belt and pants behind my back then on the "whacker belt" contura trauma pro holster w/ radio, LED minimag, pen and bandage shears pouch with as many pairs of gloves as i can fit in there (usually 4 pairs) kevlar/neoprean gloves (welcome to city EMS, lots of hypodermic needles and razors on pt's) stinger rechargable light (everyone that calls 911 doesnt have power in their rowhome for some reason) gerber mulitool notpad, "hand gue" (antimicrobacterial alcohol stuff) and a flush or 3 in the left cargo pocket EMS field guide (ALS) and usually more gloves in the right cargo pocket wallet with check card ONLY (dont carry cash in the city) all my work IDs and cert cards yeah, its alot, but then again, ive used it all at one point or another, and im damn glad i had it with me at the time
  13. Hey, Im new here, live in Trenton, NJ. and no, there are no courses in NJ, and NJ does not recognize EMT-T certs, so at best, if you are a police officer, or in really good with a police deparment, you may be able to roll with them. Captial Health System in Trenton does however supply medics to NJSP and mercer county sheriff's dept. when they are needed. So to answer your second question, no, the NJ training fund will not pay for it, because it is not a recognized skill/cert and so on in the state.
