  1. We run Motorola P1225's and they do that on scan, just the way it works, I also use a GP300 on the Ham Bands--same deal.
  2. In WI no additional certifications or license classes are needed. We do have mandatory driver/operator classes annually for all of our apparatus and ambulance, also before a probie can drive anything, he/she needs to be checked off by an officer before operating the apparatus hot. Anyone have any idea why I keep getting logged out of here...or a place to read posts of theses nature...Thanks in advance.
  3. WOW, new site, might as well re-introduce myself...Name is Dan, FF/EMT-IV Tech in Lake Geneva, WI Joined the site back in 07 and is a wealth of information and ideas. I Like what has been done with the place, I have few small issues with the site, I'll get them figured out in no time.
  4. Hello out there My name is Dan, and I hail from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I am a FF and a EMT-I, I have been an EMT-B for about a year and recently (Feb 07) finished I school and I am lovin it. EMT City is a AWESOME site and LOTS of cool peeps...my only regret is not finding it sooner! I figure someday (when I can afford it or get another service to fund it) go to paramedic school, but, that don't look lite anytime soon. Talk to Ya'll soon
  5. We have had two cardiac arrest victims since the implement of the new CPR standards and unfortunately they never left the hospital.
  6. myself being a EMT-I, would have to agree that if the medic had time to start the the IV, check the drug, and tell the basic what to do...he should've done it himself, and for the basic following these orders could have brought on serious consequences, I myself would not have done it...it is out of my scope of practice. And as far as burying the truth in the paperwork...we all know what could happen if a lawyer got ahold of this in court and both individuals came under fire.
  7. My first call was a rollover with both passengers being ejected right after sunset. I had no flashlight, just the lights of my truck. Being first on scene looked over the situation...no one was in the car,the driver walking wounded and a female passenger was on the ground unconsious, I litterally "triped over her" due to inadequate lighting. Long story short both ended up being ok.
  8. I dont know how it works in other states, but, in WI, you can send for a copy of your driver's abstract (which a copy of it also gets sent to the Dept of Health) It is my belief...but this is in WI though, insurance companies only go back 3 years. I got a OWI almost 8 years (5 yrs when I got my licenseand joined an ambulance provider) I had no problems. Maybe this may be the case as well. Good luck to your friend.
