  1. Well, first off, sounds good Terri, im in PA, WV aint that far!!

And to Ruff and/or Terri, heres an idea, make the meeting "invitational" only, seriously, only invite the ones that would not cause problems, just a suggestion.

  2. Why? I've found that most of what you do on the street can be very much like the textbook. Main difference is fluidity in order of steps. Sometimes a bit of short-cutting here and there.

I noticed a few things, like for example, when doing CPR and "cracking" chest, tahst not mentioned, we had an EMT terrified he did something bad when that happened, nothing in our book states that. And some other things Ive noticed to, but every job is based "hands" on.

  3. My service does neonatal/pediatric critical care transports for children's hospital of Pittsburgh transport team when they cant fly due to inclimate weather or close proximity hospital.

Anyway, around 5:30 on Christmas eve morning, we get called to go to a hospital about 8 miles out of Pittsburgh for a 5 year old in cardiac arrest., we picked up the team and got there in like 10 minutes, the team went in, we found out, child was worked on by ED staff for 60 minutes and nothing, they pronounced him in the room...

I was okay until the mother and sister walked in saw the kid and lost it, I had to leave run out to truck and I lost it, saying "why now??, its christmas eve", "what that kid do to deserve this". Then another truck pulled up, it was another one of my crews and I had to suck it up, and stopped.

A normal person dying is not going to hit, but a 5 yr old on christmas eve, that was tough, and I was fine til the family lost it.

I am ok, til its kids.

  4. Why does the side door appear to be ripped off (I'll assumed jaws of life style), yet it is obvious that the rear door (at least one) is easily opened. The accident does appear to be fairly minor and restricted to the cab of the ambulance.

LOL? WTF does that mean? I'm going to ask the city to rename us a "relief association".

    What a joke...

A joke?? why is that?? Here is what the relief association is about:

    Volunteer Firefighters'

    Relief Associations

(VFRAs) are non-profit organizations established to afford financial protection to volunteer firefighters who suffer misfortune as a result of their efforts. VFRAs receive state aid from a 2-percent state tax on fire insurance purchased by Pennsylvania residents from insurance companies incorporated outside of the commonwealth. These funds are used to pay for insurance to protect volunteer firefighters, purchase fire equipment and to cover volunteer training expenses. VFRAs are distinct separate legal entities from fire companies.

VFRA funds are audited to make sure they are spent according to state law. The bureau also conducts workshops to help local firefighters comply with VFRA regulations.

  5. Eye for eye, you kill someone then you should be killed, plain and simple, USA is to lenient!

Electric chair is great, but let them suffer in a gas chamber or bring back the gilateen, lay there heads down and make them wait in suspense til,.......DROP...SLICE..there goes the head.

  6. Though I'd turn the other thread around. What do you like about the job? More than just "getting to help".

-Cracking up in the ambulance with your partner to the point you can't answer the radio without laughing.

-When the ER doc, lets you participate with a procedure.

-Dry runs in the middle of the night (aka no transport)

    I agree with all this!!!

Me and my partner are goofy as hell, so we aree always making fun of coworkers and people and laughing, especially on radio.

I also like the hot nurses in the sexy scrubs
