  1. I will have to check this video out when I get some real internet.

I had a reply I wanted to post in the meanwhile but I forgot it already.

And yes the only whiners in HMOs are the patients because you have to justify every little thing for necessity to get insurance to pay. I have a damn HMO. It sucks.

  2. in your all ambos do you have a raido that you can call the pd on

    maybe GET THE PD :D:D

Private ambulances here don't usually have local pd stations...In most of the companies I've seen, they have only 4 channgel radio for the state police, HEAR, medics, and whatever 3rd one they choose if they program it.

If you are on municiple ambulance then you would have access to PD frequency...But i know, at least in my town, they get pissy if you use thier frequency.

  3. New Jersey...Bergen County... Route 17 North & South from Maywood/Lodi all the way up to Ridgewood

Hackensack, Ave, Hackensack....During a major storm, a television reporter was struck by car while filming, hit and run

Kinderkamack Ave can be bad too at times especially is Oradell.

    Ridgewood Ave in Paramus.

Maywood Ave & Spring Valley Road by the mall.

    I can go on...

  4. I've done backup for the Meadowlands here in NJ...They like to contract out to volunteer agencies to cover events (concerts, football games, hockey, basketball, etc) that their EMS services cannot man.

The biggest event lately was the Bamboozle concert...One of the facility doctors said after the first night "We got bamboozled!!" They were highly unprepared for the amount of people that showed up. The second day they had to call in for 3 more agencies I think. I didn't go... I do know that on the first day, there was a CPR. My captain from my corps was one of the people working that pt.

  5. Blind man who woke up more blind than usual. Yup wanted the doctor to see him right away.

That is possible....You can see shadows or major blur unable to be treated by eye glasses and be classified blind. You lost what you have and you're more blind than normal...

My grandmother was sent to the ER for low hemoglobin....ER did nothing and sent her back several hours later.

  6. Michael: I can't see where anyone here has been too harse at all, I think that you may be a bit over sensitive to the comments provided. I think Holocene got exactly what he asked for..... education and in-sight, dare to ask hard questions dare to receive hard answers, in fact he apologized for asking because the realizing that this can be a very sensitive topic for some that in itself speaks volumes, I don't believe that he needs someone to defend him at all. A lot of these posts really spoke from their hearts and please don't think of it as easy but in fact it could be very therapeutic for some to get it out, put it on paper, and hit SEND.

Just a premature conclusion by myself but the "gross" things persay are not really the most difficult situations for EMS providers. In fact its the humanity side of things that is the real trend here..... quite reveling....... hey EMS workers are actually humans too! WOW!

Just to be crystal clear here:

Quoting myself: I believe its blatant morbid curiosity, edit (its a human trait) but agreed totally it is annoying and quite rude to my way of thinking. edit (the point here) I have often been at a social gathering when someone asks the standard question.

I think R/r and hammerpcp summed this up nicely. I too have had some nightmares "that wake me up in a cold sweat" that I (can't remember) when I do wake. How about 8 arrests in one shift and not one survived....hmm.....I was the last person to ever talk to those good folks........ How about 16 burned to death in a train wreck, then 96 more to give care too with some being the living relative's....don't think that haunts me? I rarely get into this type of topic because one just can't explain this to the lay person, or even an ex wife  Then someone decide's to post their religious values or beliefs believing that their way is the only way, now that does frost me to be certian.

... so like I was saying back to the free shrimp and doubles.....cheers.

And at the same time, those who felt uncomfortable by his question and curiosity, however morbid, they were not forced to post their experiences.

Everything you say and do on the forum is YOUR CHOICE. It's your choice to have responded with your memories. It was not forced.

  7. It wasn't my call, but its an incident that is still talked about in my city...

There was an Italian feast going on in the streets and a fight had broken out amongst the people...One guy broke a glass bottle over an off duty cop's head who was trying to stop the fight...The broken glass shattered and sprayed into the face of a young boy standing nearby.

After the boy was bandaged and brought to the ER, the doc unwrapped the bandaging and asked if they boy could see anything...He calmly answered "No, only a shadow"...

From what I've heard, he never did get his eye sight back and that he had been a hopeful for the football team in his school that had a real shot at going somewhere.

  8. I was dispatched to the Med Center ER for a "transport".... Obviously confused (we were 911, not a private company), I know we definately sounded confused on the radio as we quietly made our way up the street...

3 people...a fat lady and 2 of her male friends called 911 for a transport home. WTF....we tried being very polite telling them that we cannot that they would have to call a private service and pay for transport. In a busy city like that, we couldn't take the chance that if we're carrying this whale up the stairs and dispatch calls us for a mroe severe call (ie, chest pain which we did get exactly 30 minutes later)... Umm no...call a taxi. Bu-bye

  9. I am sitting at work posting this from my cell phone.

I am bored out of my mind as its currently fruitless to bother looking at the phones when they ring as there are 3 other panthers in the office that pounce on it before the first ring even stops.

So with that said, I am just kicking back, legs resting on the cpu and chillin'.

So I ask of you... Post in my thread here with something amusing to help me pass the time in my little corner of the private bls institution office as I stare at the walls waiting for the ceiling to collapse on the office staff and then sue the owner for failure to maintain property.

  10. I'm 22yo and I've had 2 back injuries exactly 1 year apart. Both primarily from lifting. The first one had a little more to it because the weather was bad and in the middle of a snow storm and was the more severe.

Its definately not an easy field for the back and body.

  11. Ok, I've already attacked windsong for a post she's made already and she and I have settled our dispute, but this is ridiculous.

I thought this post was cute. How many times are posts like this made, attacking (in a joking manner) the other sex? Terri has posted I don't know how many and you all dont attack her like this.

    Geez

  12. I dont know about you, but I wouldn't want someone unable to type so that I can understand it, to respond to an MVA/medical emergency that I was involved in.

You shouldn't have to take time to re read something just to be able to comprehend what it is saying, unless the vocabulary is dense.

This, by the way, is coming from a 17 year old, so it's not like I'm some bitter old man sitting at home. I couldn't understand his post either.

Geez....I was able to understand his post.
