SAM On-Scene Guide

Recommended Posts

Bought one of the Sam onscene guides with it's straps etc. Neat in theory but it just rides around and doesn't get used. Just write on my glove or the patient until I get to my notebook.

Can you scan it and post the pics?

I'm interested to know what's on the pages. I find it a bit strange that the ad doesn't say anything about the content of the pages. I mean really, wtf can be on all those pages that you can't live without? Seems to me that anybody who would buy it without even knowing what's in it is buying it strictly on whacker appeal.

I'd say anybody who needs a checklist just to get them through a patient assessment isn't ready for the field yet. They don't need a checklist. They need more education and an internship.

With more information I am going to wait and see if spenac can provide the pictures.

Like I said Dust, I don't like it for the checklist appeal. I just like the orginizational appeal. It gives me places to put my chicken scratches.

I had a couple of them when they first came out, and they were more useful to develop a pattern for an assessment than they ever were on an actual scene. Kind of like the check-box style PCR's. As you would go down the page, it would have a box for something you hadn't thought of, and it would remind you.

They were very good for daily assessment practice at the station though.

I'll see if I can dig them up and scan the pages for posting.

I can't seem to find the one that I had. I'm thinking I must have given it to someone that was struggling to find a pattern to their assessment.

The sam onscene velcros around thigh. It has a strap that goes around belt to keep it from sliding down. It is a neat product just don't ever pull it out to use. Has radio report page,Abd Pain female, Abd pain male, anaphylaxis, asthma,,back pain, burns, cardiac arrest, chest pain, diabetes, doa, drowning, head injury, hypothermia, MVA, OB, trauma, and a lot more.
