New TV Commercial

good ad timmy, I've been corresponding with quite a few people in the USA and they cant believe how graphic our ads are here in New Zealand and in Australia. Gets the message across. We've had one of the fire departments in our area going to local schools, and the most powerful aid he takes *the presenter* is a tarpaulin. A tarpaulin that has seen its fair share of patients on it, fair share of mangled car pieces laid on it and its fair share of dead bodies under it. It's a great wake up to the kids in the schools, thinking that they are staunch, but reailty sets in, that they could end up under that bright tarp, as a mangled corpse.

Thanks Timmy :)

Scotty

I wish the US would use more 'graphic' commercials like this!!! It would show all these stupid HS kids how those "cool" things they do in their cars (drag race, drive like they're insane, etc.....) are really risky and can cost them thier lives. Especially some of these guys on their Kawasaki, Honda, etc.... motorcycles that go 90+MPH on the highways weaving in & outta traffic. Maybe....just maybe....it would open thier eyes just a lil to be a bit safer!

go with the above, some nice shots of the guy puking whil they are working him would be cool.......plus some shots of the effects of drug addiction, isolation, poverty, malnutrition, social segregation, some infected injection sites, maybe some necrotising fascitis and a bit of puss...woohoo!

In addition to what Timmy originally said, and going along with this idea, is kinda a before & after shot. Show a kid who just started the stuff in HS, and kinda do a broken timeline progression thing showing the kid going from a fairly good student, to a kid on the street all f'd up. I work at an ER in Newark, NJ. For anyone who doesn't know the area....it's a really bad urban ghetto. We see this all the time. These young peoples (20-29) come in there all messed up from horrible binges. We had one girl come in with a really nasty head laceration that took numerous stitches to heal because she fell down a flight of stairs after a 3 day binge of heroine and cocaine. We tried to give her morphine to lessen the pain while we were cleansing and stitching the wound but it wouldn't work cuz she used up all her receptors on the drugs. Now, turn back the timeline maybe 10-15 yrs, and I'm sure they were a lot better off than they are now! Just an idea for ya.

This is just for my state Victoria so 46 serious injuries a day in my state. Last year Victoria’s road toll was 298. This is just figures I’ve pulled off the net so I’m hoping there accurate.

So I've been doing a little researching to compare roadway fatalities between the U.S. and Victoria, just out of sheer curiosity. I tried to find a U.S. state that was similiar to size and population.

I found that the 2005 estimated population for Victoria was 5,037,700 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_(Australia)), with a land area of approx 87,884 sq miles (http://www.answers.com/topic/victoria-australia).

The U.S. state I found with the closest population and somewhat similiar land mass was Washington State, having a population of 5,894,121 and approx 71,342 sq miles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington).

The number of motor vehicle fatalities in Washington in 2005 was approx 647 (http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/departments/nrd-30/ncsa/STSI/53_WA/2005/53_WA_2005.htm).

In 2005 Victoria had approx 348 fatalities involving motor vehicles (http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/2005/pdf/mrf122005.pdf).

Comparing countries as a whole..

Australia is approx 2,988,888 sq mi, with an estimated population for 2006 at 20,555,300 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia).

The United states is approx 3,718,695 sq mi with an estimated 2006 population at 300,153,997 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States). Obviously, there is a considerable size and population difference.

But anyway, in 2005 the United States had approx 43,443 fatalities nation wide (see above link for WA info).

The 2005 motor vehicle fatality rate for Australia was 1,635 (http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/2005/mrf122005.aspx).

Even with considering the population and size, this is a huge difference.

Interesting.

Anyway, awesome job with the commercial.

If ever there was an argument for compulsory motorcycle helmets and seatbelts, it could very well be right there!
