Hi,

I am new here, who would have guess. I am doing volunteer work at a non-commercial ambulance and medical organization (SAINTS or ASB) in Bavaria, Germany. Got hooked in 2004, when a friend (paramedic) signed me up for a ride and emergency training classes afterwards. Best think I could have done, after my boyfriend died of inflamation of the pancreas (prancreatitis), to get back to life.

Nice to meet you all

Hello to all,

It seems that a common theme of all EMT's and Medics is that the pay sucks. I would have to agree, but you don't get into this line of work for the pay. There is no amount of money (sometimes a few million would help) that can compare to the feeling you get when you save someones life. There is no greater feeling that having someone walk into the station and see you after you have saved thier life. Some jobs is all about the money, but this is not one of them. If it is in your blood, there is nothing you can do about it.

Best wishes to all,

Paul

Very, Very well spoken, Paul! I do not have even a fraction of experience as most of the members here, but I have studied the pay and benefits of being an EMT and granted it is not a career done for the money, but for the fact that you know you are saving someone's life, bettering them when they are in a time of need and that you do what you do in the field because it is in you heart and it is your lifeblood..I am a very firm believer that it takes a special person to work in the medical field and I have loved every minute of mine working at the hospital level and now at the medical office level and I cannot wait to be able to get through EMT school and be out on the streets sharing my morals and values and being help to those out there as well.

Thanks for your caring thoughts.

Be Blessed and Be safe,

Shannon
