Question for all

2. Most electric gates around here, (Mid south), are supposed to open if you yelp your siren. Interestingly, I've never been able to get one to work.

The owner of the gate actually has to buy that option. Who's going to test every gate in the city or coverage area? They don't buy em because they don't face any consequences for not buying them.

True. In our society that sues at the drop of a hat, it's going to be a civil suit against either the agency that ordered the lock installed, the electronic siren operated gate, the responding agencies, in combination or in total.

As a quick mention, there are areas of parkland, both NYC and National Park, accessable through a locked gate. I know several VFDs that have the keys, while nearby FDNY units don't, that were issued by the park's operating authorities.

Incidently, someone just got sued. I dropped my "EMS Boonie" hat.

I almost forgot. I have 3 private co-operative "gated" communities within my municipal EMS station's Primary Area of Response. Usually, the on-site security escorts us through the gates, but all our ambulances assigned to that station, including the older spare units, have a patch that gets "read" by a LAZER at the gate, automatically opening said gate. FDNY engine and truck companies, and NYPD patrol cars, who also have these gated communities in their PAR, surprisingly do NOT!
