Massive Quake In Japan Causes Basin Wide Tsunami

A massive 8.9 earthquake off the coast of Japan has caused a basin wide (Entire Pacific Ocean!) Tsunami. Waves are expected to reach Hawaii around 8:15am EDT and the West Coast from Alaska to Chile later in the day. Im not going to link every website talking about this, its EVERY news site.

Lets hope everyone heads the warning and loss of life is minimal. This is going to be a HUGE humanitarian crisis as well as an EMS crisis. Hopefully we all can do our part.

Terrible Incident. Unfortunately I live in one of the tsunami warning states along the Pacific Westcoast in WA State. Thankfully were not expected to be as impacted as Oregon, California, or Hawaii. But My Thoughts and Prayers Go Out To All The Victims...

I know that the WA State Disaster Assistance Team (WDAT) often goes and assists in Natural disasters, I have an application in with them, but they have no openings. At this time I'm not sure if they've been activiated. I'd continue to look around.

I hear that Los Angeles County Fire Department USAR (CA-TF1) as well as Fairfax County Fire & Rescue USAR (VA-TF1) have deployed to Japan. Our thoughts are with them and those affected by the quake and tsunami.
