The New York Times, March 25, 1992:

The scene, an R train heading toward Queens. The time, a recent evening sometime after happy hour. As we pulled into the Lexington Avenue station, a well-dressed fellow in his 40's rose unsteadily from his seat and staggered toward the car doors. He grabbed for a pole to steady himself, then swung round to face the other passengers.

"What has four legs and chases cats?" he shouted, his speech somewhat slurred. No response from the crowded car.

"What has four legs and chases cats?" he tried again. Silence from his fellow riders.

The doors start to slide open. Still swaying and smiling, our happy-go-lucky fellow had an exit line.

"Mrs. Katz and her lawyer!" he shouted. Then he laughed happily. And then he was gone.
