  1. Hi,

A while ago I posted a question if anyone knew of any web based "expanded scope of practice" courses for LA County.

I was not able to find any, so I tried to find a regular course, but after contacting everyone that is on the official list from the LADH, Ive basically given up.

Not a single one had a course schedualed at all! most didnt even know what I was talking about.

If noone gives the course how can I become an EMT.

  2. Hi,

I am currenlty an EMT in NJ, I go to school there, but I live in Los Angeles.

I spoke to the LA County EMS agency, and they said that if i want to reciprocity, (being that I am NREMT certified), I just need to fill out all the paperwork, and and an "expanded scope of practice" course. But none of the courses are in my area, and are schedualed for when I will be home does anyone know of any place that administers such a course online?

    Thankx

  3. Thank you for all the replys.

The way it works here in Monmouth, NJ. Is that the BLS squad are volunteer backed up by ALS (Monoc) out of the hospitals.

I did a follow up to find out what happend in this case, so far what I know is that the Internal defib., had shocked the PT 3 times before BLS got there, and once while BLS was there, they requested an ALS assist, the medics then transported the pt to the ER where the internal defib shocked once more. It turns out that the defib was malfunctioning, but I dont know yet exactly what happend in the ER in the way of treatment.

It was interesting that the medics transported, because usually when BLS is on scene and they request an ALS assist, a medic then rides in the BLS rig to the hospital. I guess maybe the medics had special non portable equipment in thier rig that they wanted to use.

  4. Hi,

I have a question regarding cutting the umblical cord

In my text book "brady 9edition" it says that you but the first clamp 10 inches from the mother and the second one about two inchines closer to the baby. But in the Mosby review book, it says that you pirt the first one 4 inches from the baby, and the next one about two inches closer to the mother.

    What is the right way?

    Thankx

  5. Hello,

This is my first time posting, so i have a few questions.

I am an emt-B in new jerset attached to a volunteer squad. So I am eligible for the EMT training fund.

Are there any interesting/fun courses that I can take that will be covered under the fund?

Is there any type of course that I can take that will involve aircraft/rotorcraft?

Also how about something that is assosiated with Tactical EMS?

    Thankx
