  1. I just learned what a EMT-T (tactical) was yesterday, and i was pretty interested in it. i was wondering if any one out there is one, or if any one knows some pay rates. Mostly i was wondering for the most part basic requirments to get to be and EMT-T on a SWAT team. i know its different from state to state, if it helps anyone out there im from Southern California.

o and by the way there is very little information on the internet that answer my questions so all you people out there are my last restort. (there arent many books on the subject either)

    thanks for the help.

Usually have to go through some type of LE training and a Tact Medical school..

Some agencies at least here in Colorado-Commissioned you as a reserve officver, because you are armed also.. (your Protection)

    Good Luck!!!!!

  2. I am thinking about testing at the National Registry. I am a Basic EMT x 1 year+. Keep in mind I am cert in New York. I have read practice tests on line for the NR and it seems very close to the State test. My question is this. Aside from the ability to have NREMT next to my name, what bennies do I receive for having that title. I was told by one person that NY does not recognize the NR title. The course testing is 70.00 which is really not in my budget.

    Any suggestions are appriciated.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Congratulations on a possible upcomming NREMT test--it will come in Handy should you move or need certification in two states.

It shows that you have achieved competence in the profession

In colorado We use it for testing only and we do not have to keep it-but with cert in Wyoming also, I need--SO goood luck on your tests.. You will do fine..

    :P

  4. (DENVER) — A bill that will create good, high-paying jobs in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) industry and reduce the number of emergency personnel vacancies throughout Colorado passed on an initial voice vote today.

House Bill 1275 is a product of the Joint Select Committee on Job Creation and Economic Growth, and aims to create new jobs. Due to current long wait times to process out-of-state candidates, many vacancies remain unfilled. The legislation allows the Department of Public Health and Environment to offer provisional certifications for up to 90 days to out-of-state paramedics. This will create more EMT jobs, while at the same time increasing EMT readiness in rural parts of the state.

“Not only will this bill create jobs throughout the state, it will also cut down response time for people in emergencies – we will save lives, fast,” said bill sponsor Rep. Dennis Apuan (D-Colorado Springs). “We need to get people to work and we need to make sure every single Coloradan is safe and protected.”

When there are openings in the EMS industry, they can be difficult to fill due to the long wait time to process out-of-state applications for a Colorado State Paramedic Certification, and many candidates change their minds. Offering a provisional certification to an out of state Paramedic who can show that they have current certification in another state and/or National Registry certification would allow Colorado EMS agencies to fill open positions that normally take months to finalize.

Under HB 1275, applicants must meet all Colorado statutory and regulatory requirements for EMT Certification. It is a cash funded certification program, where EMT applicants will pay a fee for the Provisional Certification.

Rep. Apuan continued, “Emergency Medical Services are essential to public safety along with police and fire services, as well as serving as a vital health care safety net for communities. It’s frankly unnecessary that these highly qualified emergency personnel cannot serve the people of Colorado because of needless bureaucratic delay. This legislation will help the first-responder system to run efficiently.”

  6. Welch Allyn is recalling about 14,000 external defibrillators after 39 reported incidents, including two that involved patient deaths.

The recall, announced Tuesday, involves 14,054 AED 10 and MRL JumpStart external defibrillators made between Oct. 3, 2002, and Jan. 25, 2007. The Beaverton, Ore., company says there is a remote chance the devices, available through prescription, may produce low-energy shock, shutdown unexpectedly or be susceptible to electromagnetic noise interference.

The issues might prevent defibrillation of a patient in cardiac arrest and could lead to death, the company said in a statement. The company had received 20 instances of low-energy shock, eight instances of electromagnetic noise interference, and 11 instances of the device unexpectedly shutting down.

To the company's knowledge, the defects of the device did not contribute to the two deaths, said spokesman Jamie Arnold. "Human factors played a role in each incident: damaged device in one and failure to follow directions in the other," he said in an e-mail.

The company said customers should keep AED 10 or MRL JumpStart units in use until they receive replacements because the chance of malfunction is low.

  7. EMS Evacuates 500 from Denver Hospital

Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has developed an online training curriculum designed to help health care workers effectively deal with the needs of children in the event of a disaster. The curriculum, which is available free of charge, was developed by pediatric experts in the hospital's Pediatric Disaster Resource and Training Center (PDRTC), and focuses on three core areas related to disaster preparedness and response: planning, patient care and disaster management.

You know there are single guys in here, but we can be just as picky as the females--Is it a female that I would want to take out, be seen with, has the same or some of the same interests, is not in perpetual bitch mode.

Kids not really wanting kids, at least baby sized, may 14 or older..and Mom needs to be very cute, not look like a rodeo bull.

I'm I picky hell yeah--been single and never married, so yes I can be.

Does that keep me from being friends with women NO..

  11. Yes they can look okay--Depends on area, what duties are being performed--The Navy Blue or Black EMT shirts are not bad looking, put agency on there, thsat just adds to it.

DFD here wear there DFD T-shirts all the time, They wear nothing that says there EMT'S

Civil Air Patrol Personnel wear cammies or T-shirt in Field ops-That can say EMT on It and looks okay

Over all- Yes they do look okay

  12. Innohep (tinzaparin sodium injection)

Audience: Hematological and Nephrological healthcare professionals, hospital risk managers

[uPDATE 12/31/2008] Celgene has issued a Dear Healthcare Professional letter describing a controlled clinical study suggesting that Innohep may increase the risk for death, compared to unfractionated heparin when used to treat elderly patients with renal insufficiency. It recommended consideration of alternatives to Innohep when treating these patients for deep vein thrombosis with or without pulmonary embolism

  13. I do not personally know this guy, but I do know several people who are EMT's and security guards. All of them try to give people the impression they are cops without actually coming out and saying it. One has pulled people over (and got caught by the real PD), one of the others keep a large toy gun under his shirt so you can see it poking through the shirt. Like I said, I don't know this guy but there seems to be a certain personality type that does these sort of things.

The only way for professionalism to ever happen-is the caliber of people in the profession-they need to act profesionally, look professional,Dress Professional looking. the above is stupid people acting outside there bounds and intelligence- as far as the Law Enforcement t-shirts-they are produced for the Officers and family members of the Officers, same with FD shirts, and EMS shirts, there are people like me that collect those, but I have been the above and i wear some of my shirts, but if asked i can back it up--the guy being arrested at the party-well different states have diff laws on impersonating an officer-

Here in Colorado -Impersonation of a Officer,Firefighter,EMT is a Felony. But that requires an act to go with it, such as stopping a car or threatening someone with arrests.. so much for my soap box....... 8)

  14. I vaguely remember Valley Girl Speak. There was a Valley Girl Bible? Only California Girls speak this way
