  1. So I'm apologizing now for Necro'ing an old thread. So I need a Pair of EMT pants. I am looking for the Wacker style with the Loop closures on the Pockets. Yes my Agency requires we carry Tape, Shears, Hemostat, Agency Cheat Book, Pen light, Steth and Cat-T "ON" us all the time. They also provide Funds for 1 pair of pants every six months. So out of all the brands out there who knows which ones are Lefty Friendly? All of the pants I look up online only show the "right hand" side of the pants.
  2. Technical Rescue!!! I call it my Hobby. I have my own tower in the back yard to keep up and adapt new rigging skills. I honestly have more Gear than our Rescue Trailer when it comes to ropes and rigging. On top of that, Camping, Boy Scouts and anything outdoors!
  3. Yea I missed the date on that one. Just searched pants looking for a lefty pant. Maybe ill start a new thread on it.
  4. I love my 5.11 Tac pants. I usually wear them all the time. Navy at work then Khaki or the Sierra color when off. Dustdevil I can tell you I use that Web piece alot when teaching anything "rope Rescue" related. I'm always Clipping extra biners on the back there to keep them out of my way and hands till I need them. Otherwise there's no use for it. Question for those with the 5.11 EMT pants. Do they have the Straps that hold Shears and tape on both sides? Just curious as Im strictly a Lefty.
  5. Well I can Break it down for you what we have going on. Majority of Dept. Funds come From Taxes. Its a Line item in the County's Budget. All our Vollys are Paid per Call $26.00. for the first 4 hours of a call then $10.00 /hr after that. Now one thing on top of Fire service we offer is education programs and then We are Very big on our ISO rating. Lower rating means a Lower Home Insurance. All of our members have life insurance, premiums are paid out of our FRA account. Rural Side of things is a little different if rural gets called out its usually a controlled burn gone awry. The person who started it gets billed for our service. On to the recruiting. Word of mouth has been our best bet. Weve gotten to the point where there is a Pride of our Dept. through our members. We interview for new members. They have a probationary period. We try to make ourselves look like a professional "Full Time" Dept. And that has helped our numbers. We train twice a month minimum! ClutzyEMT I would be interested in looking at those links also.
  6. Evening all! Long time Lurker, decided to finally register and start contributing. Little Background Info: Im a Volly firefighter in NW KS, Certified in FF1 and 2 Hazmat Ops, Rescue Technician (High/Low Angle, Confined Space, Engulfment) Also a Certified Instructor. Currently taking EMT-B Classes. Decision came down after our county decided to take EMS services back over from the local hospital. The New director is working more and more with Fire/Rescue and "Convinced" a few of us FF's to take the EMT-B Class, Most of the Time Fire is on Scene before EMS so it will be nice to have a few guys ho can Start BLS care until the Bus gets there. Also the New Director wants those of us in the Tech side of things to be able to handle and issue be it down in a hole or hanging 200' in the air off the side of a Grain elevator!!!! I started it a couple years ago but Family and Fire Dept along with old director issues got in the Way. Guess Public service in My Blood so to say, My father was in the Navy and my Mother is a ER Trauma Nurse, Midwife, Peds Nurse...... So Im fully Committed this time Around. And Loving Class in its entity. -Stubs
