  1. I also live in NC. I work for a large system with Tactical Medics. No law enforcement background is necessary, but you do need to be a Paramedic with several years of experience (3-4 years minimum). Our people train with the SWAT teams and really seem to enjoy it. As far as the Flight Medics, our local hospital provides RN's and RT's for the helicopter and fixed wings, but they do have Paramedics on the ground units. If you really want to be a Flight Medic, I would encourage you to get your RN along with your Paramedic. This will open up some doors for you that you would not otherwise have if you just get your Paramedic certification. Best of luck!
  2. I have worked for Medic in Charlotte for 25 years. I am a Paramedic and FTO. As far as a place to live, the Charlotte area is great. There are several areas outside the city that as less populated and are only a short commute to our main facility. I live about 35 minutes outside the city. In short, I think you would enjoy working for our system. We have several employees who have Worked for us for over 30 years. If you need specifics regarding protocols, operations, etc, please let me know. Feel free to e-mail me at jiml2@medic911.com.
