  1. I got an offer of employment from MEDIC911 yesterday to start on 9/22/09. Now I am faced with figuring out how to get there from Portland, and find a place to live. I hope it works out I have been unemployed since Jan '09.
  2. By far the most dangerous thing in the ambulance is the gurney or the patient. Gettinbg the gurney in and out of the ambulance has hurt many EMTs and Paramedics. As far as the patient goes both their weight and their attitudes will hurt or kill you.
  3. Most states as well as most employers require that you have the card in your hand before you can start working.
  4. Sick..... But I could not stop laughing
  5. ncmedic How about rain, snow and ice? Do you know if they do any evert coverage? How is the overtime there? How is the management?
  6. I have been to their website and would like to know what it is like to work there and live in the area. I am im Portland Oregon. The website make everything look good, I would like a street medics perspective.
  7. Does anyone know about or work for this agency. I saw that they were hiring and would like more information about the agency and the area. Thank you
  8. Los Angeles County Fire uses a similar system with private ambulance transport.
  9. We would like to find an urban area. We would like an area that has all four seasons. We like snow in the winter and warm weather in the summer. My boys are going into the 5th and 8th grades. My oldest would like to be close to a city that has both an MLB and NFL team. I have a AS degree. It is not just about finding the cool EMS job, but finding employment I have been unemployed since Jan 09. I would like to find someplace where I can work in the field fulltime and part time as an instructor. I have been working part time at our local community college as a skills instructor. I applied for Philly Fire, so I am certified in PA as a paramedic. But, there is no place that is out of the question to us. Thanks for all the responces.

    Relocating

Hi all I am a paramedic in Portland Oregon. I am unemployed currently, and there are no medic jobs here. I am certified here through 2011, and I am an NREMT-P. I would like to relocate. Not sure where I want to go, but I will not go to California. I am a single father of two boys that are very active in sports. Would like to find a medium to large city. I have worked for private all of my EMS career and would like to work for a public agency that is only 911. Can any one here point me in a direction so that I may find employment.
  11. End once and for all SSM, and remove all private ambulances services that operate for profit from all 911 work! 911 one needs to be funded by the tax payers and user fees. In my area there is a private ambulance services that consistantly sends ambulances out of the county for nonemergency call and leaves the citizens with less than necessary coverage.
  12. If the pt has a palpable pulse then he is not in PEA. If the cause of the cardiac arrest is trauma and there is no visible cause that can be quickly corrected in the field there is nothing that is going to be able to be done for this person at the hospital. I am sorry but dead is dead, and is not fixable. I would not work the code.
