  1. The EMS agency I work for doesn't require us to be clean shaved, as well as them not even doing a fit test on us. When I worked in the local hospital though I've completed one with a good fitting with a goatee. I was given the choice of having a self contained hood and filter if I wanted it though. Is that something they could do instead?
  2. Congrats pacer on passing your paramedic as well! What program where you in?
  3. Well I really like Vegas, but for the most part it's going to be where ever I can get into Med school. Know if the Caribbean takes paramedic? lol.
  4. Dust and Former, Thanks for the quick answer. I figured I'd have to but a few people had told me if I completed a state practical within the last 6 months I wouldn't have to. Not like it's a big deal, if I can pass the state practical I'm sure that I can pass the NR. Former, thanks for the offer for the number, I might take you up on it if I can't find anyplace around here (I'm in the Rochester NY area) Chris
  5. Hey everyone. I've passed my NYS Paramedic with flying colors and want to take the national registry so that I can move about and what not. My question is though that if I recently took the Practical in NYS (which is based off of the NR) do I still need to take the NR practical or just the written? I've searched for the answer and can't find it. Chris
  6. Hey there, here in Rochester NY most of the combination and one of the two commercial agencies are using EMScharts (someone else already posted the link) It's great to use and better yet you can get the file off of a lifepak12 with an added cable and have the EKG and vitals added right in! It's easy to use too and flow is great. If you use thier dispatch software there is way to get the dispatch info right in too. Also for those frequent fliers, the information is stored and it will bring up demos and pmh/rx/alg history, so nice. Oh and there is a laptop or plam based version as well as the online version.
  7. Medic: Yes I did mean A-Flutter, haha thanks. I worked all night and was sitting in bed half awake looking at it.
  8. Stupid question, but are there P waves? it kind of looks like there are but it's hard to tell. Also if it is, could it possibly be 2:1 AFib with an aberrancy?
  9. Try looking up Actue Porphyria. Thats another very rare one and very interesting one. There are a ton of drugs you can not give this patient and they all act differently on the Pt. The only reason I know about this one is because I myself was Dx. with it. Yet it is still very interesting to learn all about it and other rare disorders.
  10. This is a test used to identify hypocalcemia. It is done by inflating a BP cuff above systolic pressures on the arm and leaving it for three minutes. If you get flexion of the hand or carpal spasms occur then you you have a positive finding.
